Deliberate lack of curiosity is appropriate and adaptive in some cases. I worked as a physician at a prison and one of the pieces of advice I got was to purposely avoid knowing what anyone was locked up for. It didn’t matter for my purposes and it would definitely not help me provide better medical care.

Unfortunately people like Stamets are more interested in fantasy and selling hype than the scientific method. Still a very interesting area of research.

Years ago, I was shown an exercise in synchronicity by an ex. It was demonstrated to her as part of college curriculum and involved moving of hands/arms near someone else's hands without ever touching. One was meant to instinctively know when the movements were going to change. I failed at this every single time, and she claimed I was actively trying to make it not work, as she had just seen it work for everyone in her class. It was at this point that I realized there must be something off about my neurochemistry.

I take 5 minute showers every other day, I hold my pee as long as possible to minimize flushes, I have solar panels to generate electricity, and I don't have plants that require regular watering. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FOR ME ? Meanwhile businesses waste tons of water on lack of efficiency or flat-out mistakes. They aren't "bogeyman", they are the problem.
