To vent frustration at a community he feels has wronged him, I imagine.

I think it's because it's probably the first thing that has the true potential to bring AI and its potential to mainstream awareness. They may not want that at this point in time — gives them time to keep working away (mostly) in private. It may or may not be a good idea though; somebody's going to do it regardless if they don't.
If a model was released that enabled anyone to create beautiful music in any genre effortlessly (or even easily,) the shift in public perception would be absolutely tectonic. Everyone would be talking about artificial intelligence. Image generators caused a small stir. This would incur societal level awareness of what's happening.

Talking to Alexa, Google Assistant is. In China voice typing is much more common.

This will be like Ray Kurzweil’s prediction that we will all be using speech to text by 2009. It will be possible but most people won’t be doing this, probably.

It took less than 20 years to reach that milestone! I wonder what reaction those experts had to Alphago's success.

I think in Japan tomatoes have been modified by CRISPR to contain more GABA acid and those went into the market a year ago. And those tomatoes were the first food product modified by CRISPR in the market. Also soy beans have been modified to contain more oleic acid. So food industry is going to change by CRISPR as it's easier and more precise to use as older GMO technologies and it's not GMO but gene editing.

If you were right, most of the machine learning work done until today would be illegal and Google, OpenAI, Meta, etc., would have been sued to hell long ago.

Web 3.0 and AI are reminding me a bit of the Wild West tech environment of the 80s, as someone who was around during the 80s

To be honest I don't think any of the above was ever ground shaking. Facebook is just a website (not sure why anyone ever called it anything else). The biggest day to day change in my life was getting netflix so I didn't need to drive to the video store anymore. But that's hardly revolutionary. I suspect between 2023 and 2033 we'll start to see significant labor displacement. I also suspect porn/vr will have an interesting impact on the dating market.

Yo dude... this post... I'm schizotypal previously daily drinker and sometimes shit gets really 'sci-fi' on this subreddit. But you have to be in control and in contact with reality - that is, what is happening and possible in the 'here and now'. If you're having trouble keeping it together you should have a real good think about it, especially considering the future... I mean, you should be feeling like something positive is coming, right? Thats why you're subscribed to this subreddit, in hopes that something great is possible. Well, maybe start preparing for great things now. Alcoholism can be a depressing beast - don't let it take your future away from you. Hope this doesn't come off as too preachy. Good luck.

How can you even know that the current version of you is "you"? For all we know, the consciousness you're experiencing at this very moment is just a state of being your brain accepts as itself, regardless of whether it actually is or not.
