There was this beautiful thing that I learned from Jack kornfield who learned it from Ajahn Cha a Buddhist monk. I'm going to paraphrase can't find the original. He essentially said imagine humanity as a vast forest. What happens when one tree falls? There are more that sprout and take it's place. The tree falling is a natural part of life. This is what you have to accept when it comes to death. The image of a tree falling in a forest is what clicked for me, and I lost the majority of my fear of death.

All the things you mentioned needed decades of research. They didn’t just appear out of nowhere between 2003 and 2013.
I think touchscreens and the internet were invented in the 60s and 80s.
First you have research, invention in all kinds of fields and when it matures and come together you have an application explosion.
It doesn’t mean that you had more progress during 2003-2013.
We had most likely less scientific progress than the decades beforehand.
The same happens with new technologies like ai, biotech, vr, nanotech etc.
Every important progress behind close doors will lead to an explosion when everything matures and come together.
Doesn’t mean when the explosion happens that we actually will have more progress during that time.
People always talk about fusion is 20 years away but we did make progress which was in material science.
Fusion needs innovations in material science which can take decades because the materials you need are pretty high tech.
Don’t be a fool and think when fusion happens and change the world that we suddenly made progress, would be disrespectful of the decades of work beforehand which was more important and harder.

It will be like electricity, everyone will use it. Electricity didn't make jobs disappear overall, but its existence was creative destruction in the job market. So many types of jobs wouldn't even exist without it.
Whenever a new tech quickly expands like this it will suck the profit on its own level while creating new opportunities one level above or below. Another example is open source - you can't compete with free, but you can build on it and you can make hardware for it.
So many companies used to make a profit selling closed source apps for what open source gives away for free - they go squashed, but nobody's crying for them, the field is still healthy. Other companies with other job offers will hire the same people.

Part of the if and when of the question will depend on how AI is used. If it's used to take everybody's jobs but leaves everyone in squalor because capitalism fails to change fast enough to keep up with it then we're going to have a problem. If it's used to usher in a Utopia where everybody's needs are taken care of then it will probably be fine for a while. But as mentioned in other answers there will always be that percentage of people that it doesn't sit right with and they will eventually become seditious.

We already have a good test case for this, hand created goods. Factory produced good have been around for decades and the individual crafter has been ALMOST entirely driven from the market. However, there is still a thriving group of crafters who are able to sustain themselves selling their wares even though they are three to ten times more expensive. I imagine it will be the same thing after the AI revolution.

Is is already used in games like Fortnite, and pretty much any game made in Unreal 5.1 could use it without losing too much performance

uh, no thats a totally fine response. I don't drink currently because for a good chunk of my life I was drinking a 5th of liquor daily. Spent a few days in the hospital for withdrawals. In and our of AA for a few years. Finally got my sobriety, life is much easier once you get space from the drink and the ability to think in non as circular of a path. I am not religious but AA saved my life. I don't go anymore because my drinking was more the result of childhood trauma I wasn't dealing with than alcoholism but if you need to chat about anything feel free to slide in the DMs. Hope things turn around for you, they always can.

SFX recordists and Folley artists will probably be the first to go in this battle. You need the sound fx? why pay someone when you can type in “rock hitting metal surface” and get the sound you’re looking for? I think it will be a much greater length of time before full compositions carry emotions well enough that they will be a good choice for something like a movie score. I think things like non-AAA video game music is replaced by AI scores in a short timeframe. Adoption of this tech in the film/commercial industry would be huge and very displacing for many composers.

This is the right answer and if anyone is interested it’s also why index investing works.
The entire economy does not grow exponentially with every company benefiting. Many companies fail and go to zero.
With buying the whole market you don’t have to guess who will fail or where the next S curve will come from.

Sorry for my noobness, I’m just an average AI…
Is this more like they’ve been working on it for a long time and they just happened to publish around the same time?
Or these kinds of models/research is just speeding up faster and faster?
Do they use other AI models to faster train their models?
Is it just different AI giving birth to new/better AIs?

You are making no sense. If the AI art is indistinguishable from human art then you are just asking to be scammed by "being willing to drop a few thousand dollars for an actual human artist's labor". The human "artist" is going to take your money and use AI to generate the fake the art in seconds and laugh his ass off at you.

It’s been like a decade since I’ve seriously considered doing crazy shit, still regretting not doing it but at least the gangsta drugs aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Just have to be good with weed and alcohol until parents are escaped, and then once I’ve got some certifications, I can move on to Skid Row. Or maybe the singularity will give me vision sooner and I’ll be able to interact with the real world more normally, find me someone and live happily ever after. Nah even the cliché happily ever after, not good enough, have to go bigger

Iirc only 25MB of design data for the brain lies in the genome that is insufficient to specify 100~trillion connections. Most of the brain particularly the neocortex appears to be a blank slate. Outside prewiring such as overall connectivity between areas it appears it is the learning algorithms that are the special sauce.
There are plenty of animals with as much baked in and they show very limited intelligence.
