Left to their own devices with plenty spare time at hand, humans want to do 4 things all day.
Eat, do drugs, have sex and get entertained. Whoever can provide one of this things, will always have a job.

Also what is AGI / ASI gonna do? Magically suck the excess co2 out of the air? Conjure up more resources (water, metals etc)? Wave a magic wand and turn our degrading soil nutrient rich?
some of you seem to think that all our problems will be solved and we dont have to worry about x. Youre in for a shock when those problems do hit you like a ton of bricks

Ok maybe I exaggerated but i haven't seen a single expert say anything positive about the outlook

They are experts they are realistic, but climate change killing everyone? Nobody actually thinks that.
Most likely is a boring death to age.
That is why we need to extend our lives.

Any environmental expert, but you don't name any names how funny.
And yet you don't think AGI and ASI can fix climate change?
Doomerism isn't something new, humans love romanticize the idea of our imminent extinction.
And they have been wrong every time.

If AI images have been physically indistinguishable they will probably still hold elements that can be distinguished with an ai itself. It's definitely risky but probably more effective than bans. Banning software really isn't going to work, especially in legal matters.

lets say the potential worst case scenario is true and it happens. do you really like 1/10 odds of you or a family member dying?

Mother Gaia wants us dead, so we are trying to build some other Gods to save us.
And it we succeed it is impossible they Will ever stop, this will literally change the fate of our Universe.
Whatever happens, this century will be the last.
How poetic is that :-)

I was really impressed with Replika a couple of years ago - they were using GPT-3 and it was really good.
I think they went to a different LLM at some point and since then they really haven't kept up with newer services like CharacterAI. It'll be interesting to see if they can catch up.

This is risky tho as there’s no guarantee truth would win that arms race. Also those tools might not even be possible over the long term once AI images become indistinguishable from real ones. Which would lead us back to square one anyways.

Lots of interesting problems:
Songs/music videos will become virtually free and instantaneous to make.
What genre will survive?
I suspect they will be a “merger” of celebrity profiles allowing the top ones to do music, real TV, paintings and generally outrageous things all together.
Elon Musk will “make” classical music and Jazz, the Rock, Hard Rock, water paintings etc… as everyone could make the same, value will be locked to their persona with tokens.
We will come back to the middle ages in a way, with relics of Saints being traded all over Europe :-)
The way things go, pretty good digital avatar of those people will become available for a few dollars to everyone. Seeing the power of mimetism, I can easy see people interact directly with them instead of with each others.
We could end up with maybe a hundred celebrities AI clones providing all interactions for everything…

Replika isn't as good yet. It's supposed to get better within a few weeks. So instead of 600m parameters, it will have 6b, 20b, and up to 175b in parameters. But pro members get it the fastest

Doomer BS. Even if the worse case scenario comes to be, it will be a disaster, a mass extinction level catastrophe, but we will adopt and survive. Absolute, total, worst of the worst, like 10% of the world population dies.

It's very easy to make an AI based dating app that mimics human interaction. Have >95% of the girls swipe left on your profile and the few that somehow match, make 90% of them don't respond or give one word answers to everything. Would be indistinguishable from any other dating app whether you're talking to human or AI.

The AGI and ASI is much smarter than humans, if there is a way it will find it.
We humans are stupid the ASI will find solutions to anything we can think about.
