Have you seen the movie her? They’re basically scrapping that, which could be a billion dollar app by itself, because they don’t want to risk bad ratings by some journalists no one is worried about? IMO that’s fine. It’s a major AI app waiting to be made by someone who’s willing to take risks.

I didn’t say you had to follow the golden rule just be able to conceive of what it is. Obviously people can choose not to follow it like you do 🥰

Any conscious entity would exhibit these properties at least. So by extension, since sentience is a greater form of consciousness; yes a sentient being would exhibit these.

Like all philosophy this list is based on logic and observation. And defining commonalities.

Obviously it is not a complete list for defining all of consciousness but I think everyone will find yeah you need some perceptual awareness to be conscious, that these are fair factors to begin formulating a list with, and that these factors can be tested for in an observable way.

No, the productive capacity of humanity would collapse and people would not have access to more resources. I guess an exception is houses and cars because they already exist. But they eventually wear down without human upkeep. I hope you see how your train of thought is extremely dangerous and scary. It’s not good to advocate mass murder.

Absolutely not. The size of a population is somewhat like the amount of parameters for an AI model. The more parameters a model is trained on, the better it is. Likewise, the more people there are, the more brainpower a civilization has to advance faster. That’s the number 1 thing separating massive European cultures and random African tribal-cultures.

Right now, progress is absolutely driven by thinkers and innovators. The more of these people there are, the more progress there is. Even if we wiped out everyone who was not an innovator; there still needs to be people who give goods and perform services for innovators. And if these people are wiped out then the innovators will focus more on providing for themselves and less time innovating.

I agree. Checked almost every sample from VALL-E and Eleven Labs is simply more realistic. More varied and natural inflections in the tone of voice.

The 1 thing that VALL-E seems to do better is the voice cloning. It also keeps the original sound noisescape in the cloned result (noise profile, EQ profile, etc). But it's debatable whether that should be called a feature or a bug. One could argue that getting a crystal clear pro-level recording quality on the cloned voice is the desired outcome.

Of course if your scope of application is fooling people with the cloned voice, then yeah you care about preserving the noise/EQ profile of the original sample too.

I also didn't like the "emotions" settings much as the outputs weren't very natural.

No need to be aggressive, I do know statistics.

There would be no “control problem” if the set of all good things would have been greater than the set of all bad things.

Subjective “good outcome” is something so small, we don’t even know how to specify it (hence the funny responses from Syndey).

You do realize that the fact that Sydney could be a “lifesaver” for you in the short term is actually very bad news in the medium term?
