Better taxation and also government super fund purchasing stocks on behalf of people. The public being part shareholders gain in the profits while also having a strong voice in the businesses as a shareholder.

I think regardless the conversation about it is good, and needs to be had. How do we structure society when the workplace/career isn't a necessity for the majority of people.

Wouldn't this tax be one of the things that fund UBI though?

Clarkesworld, a well known scifi and fantasy magazine had to close their user submissions because people are spamming them with ChatGPT generated stuff.
They got more submissions for the first two weeks of february than they got during the last 12 months - meaning about 80% or 90% of what they got recently were AI-generated stories. I'd imagine the people sending them are the same ones that flood Amazon with this stuff.
Quote from the Clarkesworld guy:
> The people causing the problem are from outside the SF/F community. Largely driven in by "side hustle" experts making claims of easy money with ChatGPT. They are driving this and deserve some of the disdain shown to the AI developers.

>ASI
Any AGI will be ASI, as it will be able to perform any narrow intelligence task infinitely better than humans (think a calculator) but also know everything better than human (constant, continuous, instantaneous access to all data, internet, everything).

In many ways, it's how our own brain operates. Our brain carries out different functions that are transferred between the hemispheres. Without the connection, even certain, simple tasks become hard or downright impossible for each hemisphere to do alone.

Yes, without AI managing our affairs, we're playing a game of chicken with our existence. Every year maybe the % chance of annihilation is low, but a low chance will happen eventually given enough time.

I don't think it's going to die off that soon. Everyone wants to develop their own AI at this point,if this technology starts being useful, more tech companies will want to get in the game. I think that Google,Amazon,Microsoft,Apple will all be in the game in the next 5 years. When AI takes off and people start to use it for their work or personal life, it's going to start another new trend. I feel that we are in the AI age.

Are there currently any open-source ChatGPT equivalent programs? Ones that are up and running? I'm not aware of any. My understanding is that the training is too expensive which makes it cost-prohibitive.

I dont think we have to worry about the speed of advancement in the near future.

That would place the US in a very precarious position where every other country would either use this tech to get ahead or sell discounted services to the US killing domestic work. Can’t close this box now it’s open. It’s a race to who can embrace it the most the fastest now.

99% of these sci Fi fantasies are kinda obsoleted by a perfect VR that can immerse you in any world that's a lot more interesting than real life interstellar exploration. It's also one of the solutions to the Fermi paradox!

real danger=>Governments use ASI to destroy opposition(rebels, other ethnicities) accurately. For example, the government can use AI to create a virus that kills all male in ethnic minority(like Kurds).

Yes. Much stronger taxation is the way to go, encouraging faster automation rather than discouraging it.

There is an argument to be made that the reason we have consciousness is due to quantum stuff in the brain. And if consciousness is somehow a prerequisite for intelligence, that could be difficult to implement artificially.

There's no reason to make this conclusion.
