So where does everyone live? We just keep breeding like a virus all over the planet? I hope I wonβt be so much o a coward that I try to live forever. Sadly I will probably try and be one of those live forever cowards.

Yes I agree. Everyone is worried about AI taking jobs right now. But what will that vacuum of jobs create?
Opportunity? Or Threat?

Yes. If the AI is fair and benevolent it would also have god-like traits in a technological advanced society. It would be "all-knowing" using digital information, "ever-present" with the state of monitoring tech, and potential "all-powerful" if we cede control to it.
It would literally be like if we made Jesus Christ run society. Why wouldn't we want a god-like being who is benevolent and without bias in charge of our society?

It's sort of like listening to children come up with reasons why mommy and daddy torture them with vaccines and bedtime. And then using that as evidence that their planets plan to cook and eat them.
Most Doomers, especially the 'humans are a blight on mother nature omg' types, just want to do Frankenstein/Hansel and Gretel fanfiction. Pathetic.

Nah, dismantling capitalism before it has a chance to control early AGI is pretty important.

Please stop projecting your total lack of imagination onto higher intellects. 'Consume, consolidate, reproduce with no regards to the outside world except for how it thwarts you' is behavior we assign to barely-intelligent vermin. Smarter animals, to include humans, have motivations and strategies that go well beyond just making more copies of itself. And this is a trend that only gets more profound the higher up the intelligence ladder you go.
There's no reason to, and plenty of reasons not to, believe that a super-intelligence would suddenly reverse a trend we see in nature to have such simple, primitive motivations.

No, iβm speaking on people who always say there is no meaning simply because work wonβt exist, I just find it odd that they would find meaning in it at all if AGI does it better and more efficiently. Just looking at the prosperity of the world and appreciating life and family would be sufficient for me, not working for unethical establishments.

The current AI has better critical thinking and communication skills than >80% of the politicians in the world, so yes.
That said, the difficult part I think is how to control what and how data and information about society is fed into the AI, so that it will be as impartial as possible when making decisions.

Reply to The Limits of ASI: Can We Achieve Fusion, FDVR, and Consciousness Uploading? by submarine-observer
I think you are underestimating how much of a difference intelligence would make, for example how much "higher" is out intelligence then a monkey? probably less then 2x, maybe we are even something like 50% more intelligent. So, an AI 5x more intelligent would be completely incomprehensible to us, let alone a 100x AI.

This is the reason he's been talking about AI for so long (comments as far back as 2017 and before.) It has almost nothing to do with AI safety. He's a narcissist. He knows that powerful and democratised AI (or AGI) has the potential to level the playing field to an extent that his ego would be seriously challenged. It's less about money to him than it is about his narcissism. He's at the "top" so to speak, and he knows things are on the verge of shifting, but he doesn't want to potentially slip into insignificance / obscurity.

And like I said, these assumptions are based on our limited scope of intelligence. An ASI with infinitely superior intelligence than ours will probably view our assumptions as retarded to be blunt.
