Also Sarah Connor.

It’s not so much about the jobs it creates, but a lot of people can use it to create their own job in existing fields, now able to do it themselves instead of hiring a team to make up the stuff they can’t do

AI can make fake names, photographs, web pages and signatures faster than humans can realize they’re fake. That’s the whole problem with AI generated anything - first we believe it’s real and then we question it.

Our politicians are worried about regulating women's bodies and trans persons, oh and book burning. But I'm sure it'll be fine. Surely they'll all come together and institute a robust social safety net when a quarter of the country is unemployed. Hopefully /s isn't needed here...

And youre failing to understand my point. I dont just want any sort of feedback. I want feedback from the thing Im selling my ideas to. The thing Im trying to connect to.

I'm going to guess it creates new ones too. I think some people are going to have a really hard time dealing with the existence of AGI.

Reply to The argument that a computer can't really "understand" things is stupid and completely irrelevant. by hey__bert
This is wrong on so many levels that I don't even know where to start. The obsession to reduce humans to computers leads to absurdity. It dehumanises us and leads to modeling the world as though we're all automatons. If a person becomes nothing more than a value producer, and groups are just factories, what's the point of having humans around? Just get yourself a truckload of GPUs!

Totally. I'd say up until about a year ago I had resigned myself to thinking of it as that but the rate of change things have been going through... progress could always suddenly stop. There are always unexpected roadblocks but man this shit is moving so fast.

u/Arowx , I’m a day late to this party, but I attended a talk at work this morning where the researcher lamented ChatGPT’s terrible math skills. (ChatGPT 4 was reported integrated with with Wolfram Alpha days ago.) Presentations are now outdated before they can be presented.

AI will emulate all of that, and already can to a degree though, that's what I was saying. You can already ask GPT to be more or less specific on ideas.

Yeah, I agree, I'm hoping ai will end up being at the forefront of our progression rather than fading into mundane utility.

"you can't possibly imagine what jobs are coming" happened with other technological revolutions. For example, i don't think people in the 1920s could have possibly imagined twitch streaming.
But AGI is bigger than anything we can imagine. It will do everything.

That’s a good point - how many companies would this apply to besides OpenAI? No one demonstrated parity with GPT4 yet. Maybe 6 months from now someone might catch up, but then the time expires. So it won’t affect anyone else, what gives?
