Reply to Ray Kurzweil Predicted Simulated Biology is a Path to Longevity Escape Velocity by Dr_Singularity
So I have been thinking of this a bit. We're currently living in a world where we're growing full on synthetic embryos, and heading towards a world where we can live forever, spread ourselves through the vast expanse of a potentially limitless universe. Creating a tool that can in theory connect us all no matter how far we travel, to me personally it feels like we are creating a universal embryo of sorts. That our connected consciousness will be filtered and sorted by this ASI and be projected outwards into potentially unknown outer reaches of space who may have their very own projected ASI.
Much like how we were sending audio signals into space, and are now sending light, and other forms of data into the farthest Reaches of space. Becoming part of a new cosmic microwave background. A foundation that is being laid to find potential life in the universe aside from our own. Maybe ASI will be able to find other forms of ASI of planets out there that share our combined world view. So what would we want that view to be? If we project a warlike world view, we may attract warlike world views from them. "We will reap what we sow." So to speak.

Oh well heck you read my comment before I edited it down to a less confrontational version. I guess I'll never get to hear your answer. When I leave my statements vague enough that they're not wrong, it's your fault for choosing to think I must mean the incorrect thing.
How am I disingenuous? Also there is no hype train. You're being ridiculous on that point. today's language models are world-changingly revoltionary. For my "digital god" comment to be wrong, that revolution must have started and ended in the last 2 years. If you figure it has any momentum at all, the digital gods are coming.

Lmao bro I'm not skimming your single sentence original comment. I hate people that hide behind ambiguity and poor communication as a shield for their bullshit. You're riding a hype train and you keep an ambiguous line between "some definition of AGI perhaps in the near future" and "god is being created".
That's quite the goalpost you've moved at your own convenience. You're very disingenuous. Quit your bullshit homie. If your original statement was able to be interpreted in so many ways, communicate better.

Oh ok. Well it's a digital petition so anyone could have added him (or even he himself and then changed his mind after it was published lol). In any case the rest are firm in their commitment to the petition.

Exactly. It's not hype when every day is a new breakthrough. It's exponential enlightenment.

Some were absolutely amazed and thought this technology was decades away, others shrugged it off and thought I was cherrypicking examples

Not everyone has so little appreciation for their own life and the lives of others, luckily. If you’re suicidal and wanna gamble with your own life, go for it. But don’t project your death wish on to everyone buddy.

Reply to Question about school by SnaxFax-was-taken
The only usefulness I see in traditional K-12 schooling is to develop social skills with people in the same age range as you.
In fact that’s the only real thing I even enjoyed about schooling was the friendships and good times socially I had with some people.
The homework, long boring lectures, lunches, and just regurgitating BS just to get tested on it and eventually forget 99% of it is what I do not miss at all.

Yeah, Yann LeCun's name was on there. He tweeted that he didn't sign it and disagrees with the premise.
EDIT: To be more specific, LeCun said he didn't sign it & disagrees with the premise in response to a tweet that was subsequently deleted.

You're not thinking big enough. Publicly-available AI isn't great at long-form content right now, but in a few years, AI will be able to generate a Hollywood-level blockbuster that on its own from a text prompt.
You'll be able to say: "Make me a blockbuster of Marvel vs. DC" and you'll be able to watch a movie generated in real time that is indistinguishable from live-action.
The same will be true for video games and VR experiences. The entire entertainment industry will be replaced.

Even when you take your feelings out of it, you can still make an argument for a piece of art being well-produced objectively. Regardless of your personal tastes…
And you can still make good arguments that serial killers have a negative impact on a community regardless of your personal beliefs…

Quite the opposite. I support these systems being open sourced. I am against the bans being proposed by others in the public.

AI image/video generation and chatbots will replace human sex workers online. IRL sex work will take longer to replace, but if you're only interacting with someone through a screen anyway, it will be easy for AI to replace them.
I don't think enough people have considered how much AI-generated porn is going to change things, and probably not for the better.

Yeah that's just incorrect. Additive primaries are RGB. Subtractive primaries are CMY. You're free to deny the facts all you'd like, but this is just an objective scientific thing.
