What? Change, revolution, progress etc has always been dictated by capital. The rest of us just have events and history happen to us. This is the way its always been. There's no reason or evidence to think it would be otherwise suddenly.

Reply to The next step of generative AI by nacrosian
I think multistep tasks and the ability to understand context across applications is the next paradigm to solve. GPT 4 with plug-ins can do this in a rudimentary sense, but I think it will take specific training and architecture within the generative model itself to start to replace FTE workers.

Licensing issues with llama seem to make this not workable but I expect a fully open version soon.

Umh, the delivery apps are not going anywhere, quite the opposite. It’s just that delivery people are replaced with bots and drones already in some countries. Your head is stuck in the American automobile industry. The rest of the world hates driving.

I do believe there is an ai that can run on consumer tech and can be trained on consumer tech that doesn’t need high end specs for the smaller models. I think it’s Alpaca/LLaMA and is comparable to Chatgpt from what I’m seeing online

Yann LeCun is consistently bad and dumb on everything so I assume this means that LLMs are a direct route to AGI.

Possibly safety for what governs the AI, not the AI consumers and interactions.

That's a good point. Viewing it from a higher perspective, it might have been it's original purpose, given how fast the international open source ai research institute was proposed. Those things take months to prepare.
I have to remind myself that we are now in a 4D Chess game, and hoping AI isnt already playing at all 16D string theory proposes lol.

How do you restrict the AI's answers to say further a plot point or stay in character?

The letter won’t do anything to pause AI research, however it’s been an effective wake up call to alot of people still oblivious to what has been going in the Ai space.

Most of the rich and powerful are using their AI apps to protect their current interests. It’s way too early in the game to pick winners and losers because at this stage, the most likely outcome is they will be the “MySpace” of AI apps. They are tuning their AI Chatbots on trillions of parameters. This can’t be explained to the general public in a way that will cause a shift in societal thinking. The financial markets are setup for a massive change in wealth in the short term that will cause a paradigm shift and unlock new AI opportunities. The best is yet to come.

As long as I'd have unrestricted access to the latest advanced models i wouldn't care. That's the real goal IMO. most advanced access to everyone

honestly you sound like all the boomers in the government. it’s an app. it just so happens to be popular. every other social media platform has tried to copy it without success. so why aren’t they on this list? you could argue reddit is worse. but it all sounds very anti china to me. crazy how patriotism is still a thing in 2023 lmao
