That’s interesting because you would think that little people astronauts would be ideal for space travel since the reduced weight and limited interior space would be optimal for designing efficient space craft.

If I recall correctly, you also can't be over 6ft (183cm). Or at least that was the max in the '90s.

Yup I feel like scientists will invent the most outlandish natural excuses for a signal before entertaining the idea of aliens. "It's not aliens, it's actually a Magnetar that is behind a black hole in a galaxy that's colliding with another one and there just happens to be a cloud of gas floating between earth and the object"
I get why, but it's still annoying as some one who just wants to dream about answering one of life's big mysteries.

no, for nasa to be accepted into the program u have to be at least 147. shuttle pilots have to be at least 162 however.
