I try really hard to tell myself there are changes, only they are too gradual to notice.

Some centuries ago, it was perfectly acceptable to slaughter indiscriminately and to brand people with different beliefs or body appearance as non-human.
Not anymore.

Just a century ago, half of mankind (women) were essentially public property and beating them, deciding what to do with them, was the norm almost everywhere.
It's now becoming a minority.

Things suck real hard. But, morally speaking, they used to suck even more although it's hard to realize.

All I can hope is that we haven't capped how far we, as a species, can morally progress (because, fuck, there's so much more potential progress it's like we have just started moving past the starting line). But that'll be for our grandchildren's grandchildren to observe :-/

>I wasn't aware FH had failed,

FH has flown about once a year, a rocket more capable than F9. The market just doesn't exists.. A product left on the shelves is a failed product.

Starship is even more powerful, the only actual client is Artemis, and that will fly once every few years (if we are Lucky). And on top of that SpaceX is not making money out of HLS, part of the reason why they got the contract was because SpaceX is putting like half of the money.

>Starlink is a bit of a left field idea but from the sounds of it was designed as a way to provide cash flow long term to develop Starship. Satellite internet already exists, is a mature market.. even if SpaceX completely dominated the market, there's not enough money there to fund starship development. That's why SpaceX keeps running rounds of investment.

SpaceX is a start-up, a 20 year old start-up that doesn't make money.

Just build the ultra clear telescope on earth and put some mirrors down on other planets. If we put a mirror down on mars and observed earth through it, we’d see us from 6 to 45 minutes ago depending on orbit. You should also be able to do the same trick using gravitational lensing around black holes. We should be able to see a refracted version of earth right before the event horizon… given a powerful enough telescope.

1 second last 1 second for you. Always. But only in your time frame. It doesn't matter if you are in open space, on a planet, near or in a black hole.

There is no "universal time" that you can take for reference. You can only compare different time frames.

"News just in, a break-away faction on-board the ISS have mutinied, taken over the ship, and placed the head of the former opposition leader on display for all who may resist them. While their next moves are unsure, yelling and whooping could be heard, with 'I'M TAKIN THIS THANG TO ME-HEE-CO!' exclaimed by the faction leader."
