They probably assumed that a situation like this would never happen, considering that it has never happened in the past. I don't remember any American athletes having to go through this.

Maybe I'm missing something but how come this went to court where all other pro sports cheating incidents are handled by the sports governing body. Was it amateur?

If sabres miss the playoffs this year they will be tied with the jets

So crazy. I can't imagine the stress level if those two countries faced off in an event.

In track and field, there are some Ukranian athletes competing. They are all training in different countries away from the war. They are sponsored and need to put food on the table, so they don't have much choice but to keep going.

Yeah as a Jets fan, the Lions and Browns are right down there with us as perennial shitty teams. The Browns had a good year recently but overall they're shit.
The Bengals used to be down there too but these last few years have elevated them out of the bottom tier.

Do you mean the military funds the athletic programs, or the military emotionally supports the athletic programs?

Aye I won’t be watching it this year then
And before anyone gives it “it’s not the players fault” argument
Nobody is saying it is, the punishment is aimed at the state
See apartheid South Africa as an example

That one play of him flinching when he lined up as a receiver has overshadowed all of his competent moments

There's another factor. There are hundreds of low level matches played, where nobody is paying much attention, and the players are not earning much on tour, and nothing from sponsorships.

Yeah that's fucked.
We've had the complete opposite experience, stadium upgrades, new practice facility (built in 2014/2015), marquee player signings, etc.
