3 inches is certainly drivable but still more than enough for cars to be sliding around.

The major roads were awfully plowed (Kansas, National), and honestly didn't even look like they had been touched at 4 pm. Only the highways were cleared well.

This is totally just a guess but I'd say just start calling places because everyone is gonna be swamped and charging extra after this so I feel like it's going to be a bit variable and first come first deal/service

The temps are far too low for any salt/brine substances to be put onto the roads. They just won’t work. All they have are the plows at these temps. Side neighborhoods aren’t a priority. Interstates, highways, and major roadways get the focus first and foremost.

I get it though, I met a snow plow on a state highway and he was plowing the very edge of the outer roadway, less than a foot, and the rest was clear. All he was doing was throwing shit at my windshield when we passed each other.

That’s super awesome of you to offer but it’s looking like we’re gonna have to wait it out until at least tomorrow, we have a space heater running down there now.

I would call budget plumbing heating and air. I’m a contractor and they do all of our plumbing and hvac. Tell them Zach sent you and they will hook you up. He’s our team leader.

You must be new here: Springfieldians maintain a dormant form of PTSD that is triggered by the possibility of driving in snow. This allows them to get one or two snow days a year for only nominal snowfall.

Some of us come by this honestly, as the early aught pre-Christmas traffic jam had everyone I know in stop and go traffic for six to eight hours. The fact that this has been sublimated into a culture of having inappropriate freak outs whenever snow begins to fall is unfortunate (and a bit of a chicken-egg thing).

I actually did not know that, thanks! it's just frustrating because I was in Bolivar this morning and the roads there are pretty damn clear and then I get on the main streets of springfield and the roads are just compact snow everywhere. my family is from Northern Iowa so I can personally handle a lot of snow but avoiding the other drivers sliding all over the place is a huge pain in the ass

I’ve been keeping up with this since earlier in the year. I didn’t know Iain well but I used to live near Hurts and his energy was just always so kind and calm. I Google his name probably weekly just hoping for some news. I hope y’all find him.
