Was wondering what was burning… could see the big black clouds about an hour ago from Mama Jean’s. Hoping they’ve got it under control and everyone’s ok.

Looked like a pretty big house. You could see the livingroom burning through the window from the ball park. Fire fighters were there getting it under control. That was the black smoke cloud you this evening.

Not that far north, no. We visit friends in Des Moines and we've been to a few other places in southern Iowa.

When they cut off sales and pay outs for balance transfers (all predatory) they lost money and new hires as well. So they raised the wage for new hires but not current workers. That is my memory. And IT, which was me, either move with no raise or take your severance and that is it. So I left.

Well, it takes so long to get up to speed they’re just anticipating that they won’t make the green light.. lol

When we were last in Iowa we noticed every car had hail damage. The people were nice but the winters are brutal. Summer is unbearably hot and my allergies flare up every time we visit. Iowa is flat. No hills, no curves, endless squares of farmland interrupted by small cities that all look the same.

I SO agree! Takes forever for locals to get up to speed. And also...how about NOT slamming on brakes when approaching a green light?

Because, IMO, Springfield really is a horrible place to exist.

The Chase building is a call center, and may have the only atm for Chase in the state. It is next to the cafeteria. Used to have a full server room close to that as well, but not so much anymore. It is mostly network equipment to connect to serving sites. Like very large server room. Not so much. There should be general customer service, and maybe airline queues, but now idk so much.

I have been to Iowa in the winter. If there's ever a nuclear war someone is going to need to call up there and let them know, because they won't be able to tell the difference.

I heard at least two calls on the scanner last night for people firing guns into the air along with all the fireworks calls. As in, the caller reported seeing someone firing the gun, not "I heard fireworks and can't tell the difference." So, it could have been either. It happens every year.

Thing is, I don't remember hearing more than sporadic fireworks on NYE until 2000. Seems like that year and every year after it sounds like downtown Beirut circa 1983.

2. I drive 5 over the limit, like most people. If you tailgate me I will slow down to 5 under until you back off or go around.

Not just drive up to speed limit, but get there faster from a stop. Not saying treat it like a drag race, but it shouldn't take a mile to get to 40 mph on Chestnut.
