I've heard that they are majorly understaffed and can confirm the long wait times from a business side as well.

I’m just guessing if they had 750 to pay a fine they wouldn’t be sleeping in the cold, seems like a good way to keep jails full and tie up courts and public defenders with more useless shit to pass off on the tax payers

There's not really that many people living on state owned property. I believe the majority are on private lots owned by developers who aren't developing. It's not hard to not sleep on state property.

Rock Bottom is a DIY venue for punk and metal. They are on instagram.

I’ve not heard great things about Republic services. My neighbor uses them and they constantly miss him. Most on our street including myself use Ozark Refuse. They’re way cheaper than the big companies and local, so they actually care about good service.

Suppose an offender under this statute pays the fine. What happens the next day? And the day after that? The law effectively obviates local efforts to address homelessness and gives that power to the state. Not traditional GOP policy making to be sure. The homeless remain homeless and are left even more hopeless. It’s not much of a head scratching to conclude the law basically enables law enforcement to remove homeless camps. What happens the next day is a cleaner cityscape, brush cleared, rubbish removed, and a humanitarian crisis that is only made worse.

Yeah, it's big enough to get with the times and upgrade bike infrastructure.

I'm native to Missouri and was homeless for a few years, I literally moved across the country so I could get better support.

It's pretty incredible that one of the most "christian" states is one of the most hateful and judgemental. It's almost like Christianity, hatred, and treating our neighbors like shit go hand in hand. Disappointing... heartbreaking

The outland/the odyssey lounge has a wide variety of shows and seems to be the main spot for punk and smaller rock/metal shows. Also, for local artists, check out Timmy Miano and Slugs

We left Republic Services a few years ago for Queen City Disposal, and they’ve been totally reliable. In addition, our prices haven’t skyrocketed. They adjusted slightly for gas. But when we were with Republic they basically raised our rates twice a year without fail until I called to complain, then they would lower it for a bit, then just start the cycle of raising the price again. Part of me wondered how high they would go, but I didn’t feel like paying out for an academic exercise.

No, my area hasn't really been impacted by whatever problems they are having.

When I lived there it was pretty regular for them to miss us for a week or two. When I left Springfield it took them a month to pick up our final load. I only know it was that long because the realty company who was selling the house called me damn near every day.

I mean threatening them with 3 meals a day and a warm bed???? Why the fuck . people that can't afford 450 for rent are going to pay 750 dollar fine hahahaha. These paper pushing morons did nothing but make it harder to get off the streets.

Waited over two weeks and they finally picked up today. Has it been the same everywhere else in Springfield?

Criminalizing homelessness…this is the direction we’re going?!? Anyone who supports this is a disgusting excuse of a human being and I hope they burn in the hell they very possibly believe in. This is so incredibly saddening.

Several local musicians put out albums over the past six months. Live music isn't as frequent during the winter so these would be worth a listen. Regional artists' releases don't get listened to and promoted like they should:

Are you making the assumption that people pay their fines? They won't. And with all this said, the judge isn't going to throw the book at someone for their first offense. This is likely a punishment for a 10-20x offender.

I've been to Burrell for many years, then I switched to BiBi health. I loved it at first but then the person I was seeing left and I got put with Dr Bains who owns the place. I guess if your doing alright and you just need your meds it'd be okay. If I genuinely needed help though I'd need to go somewhere else. Also when I went to get blood work the person there was so surprised because she said she used to work for him and he never requested blood work-so much so they couldn't find him in the quest system. Also tried therapy there and that was overall a terrible experience too not to mention the dude acted like I'd hurt myself non stop and I wasn't trying to land a trip to the psych ward. Another thing is they constantly say I did pay for my last appointment all the time so I have to make sure I keep my receipts.
In the end I might just go back to Burrell. None of the psychs there were horrible or anything, it's just when you find one you like the next thing you know they leave. I'd say there's a very high turn over rate in that field as I've been through at least 8 psychiatrists.
Best of luck to you.
