Being a northsider, we always went to this theater. Loved that it was never busy, but yeah I’m sure that led to its demise. The trend is towards theaters more like Alamo but I don’t need all those real food options. Just give me the popcorn. They did build this theater before theaters started putting in the reclining seats and Regal never updated the seats. That didn’t help.

My wife and I went there on our first date, hit a pillar in the parking garage with my truck trying to pull in a spot. THEN the movie she wanted to see was sold out so we saw Draft Day. Can’t believe I didn’t get ghosted!!

Last movie I saw there was F9 the week it came out. Bought a popcorn and a soda, also snuck in some airplane shooters since they never sold booze. There were maybe two or three other folks in the theatre. This was my first trip to the movies since the pandemic started and I'll never forget the fun I had that night.

It's a nice facility and I've always had a good experience there. Unfortunately the pandemic permanently changed the way movies are distributed and let's be honest, there are other theaters that are "easier" to attend, with more food and beverage options. Gotta change with the times, and they did not.

Now is a good a time as ever to support The Moxie!

If you’re looking for college crowds, all of the above recommendations are perfect. If you’re looking for great drinks and a better atmosphere, I would highly recommend the following:

Golden girl rum club

J.O.B. Public house and prime time (if they don’t close due to the owner passing away)

The Vantage

Best of Luck Beer hall

Cherry Picker PackageXFare

The Royal music hall

Tie and Timber beer company

Hope this helps, and we’ll see ya out there!

Going to miss it. Living downtown it was nice to be able to walk a few blocks and you were at the theatre. Plus it was always dead even for major openings. Last time I was there was for Maverick on opening night and there were only 20 people in the whole auditorium. Which I'm sure played some very very minor small part in its closing.

It wasn't a bad theater. It's too bad the logistics of the place are so terrible. Especially with the kids who would hang out in the parking structure and harass patrons.

The moment I won't forget was seeing no way home on opening night and the excitement around the movie and then seeing Dragon Ball movie and how bad the response was to that movie. No one got hyped, even for a second.

I was in a time crunch back in 2016 when I got my car. Got it at Youngblood Kia on the corner of Campbell and Walnut Lawn. I was there a good chunk of my day, but left with a car and a nice low payment.

This is all just my own take, others may disagree. But I think in the current market, $3500 is not going to get you much. If you need reliable transportation for work, you will want to consider upping your budget and accepting a small car payment.

Otherwise, something in that price range is going to have extremely high mileage and be at risk of breaking down and leaving you stranded at any given moment.

Not really directly or specifically related to Springfield. But with a lot of discussions and topics that many of us deal with, I think it's useful and information to let everyone one know that when we hear "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" as the solution to personal or societal issues, what we are really being told is

"If you are not able to achieve incredible near impossible personal effort and dedication and pseudo perfection in dealing with your struggles, then you don't deserve help, your problem is your personal failing or lack of quality."

Don't go to Tenaurio (sp?) if he's even still practicing (i haven't seen him in 20 years). His "cognitive testing" consisted of "walk the line, touch your nose, here's your script for Concerta."

Which, yea I have ADHD, and so did my dad, but the way he handled it screamed pill factory. So I guess if what you're after is just quick meds with no hassle, go for it. But if you want a doc that will actually pay attention to you and find something that really works for you, go somewhere else.
