Calling it now. Biggest roundabout in Springfield will be Campbell and Republic Road.

It may redirect some congestion into residential neighborhood areas. The dumping out of this road onto a winding, narrow road down to Nixa that is known to flood will be a new bottleneck.

If they had taken a lane from westbound JRF directly into the Sam's area the intersection would be much more navigable

While nothing official has been announced, this was in a recent Springfield Daily Citizen article on the future 244 interstate loop and some projects leading up to it's designation. (2029 at the earliest)

"$21 million to widen James River Freeway from Kansas Expressway to National Avenue (Target completion 2024) — This project will include bridge widening over Campbell Avenue, bridge approach replacement in the eastbound lanes between Campbell Avenue and National Avenue, and an additional median lane from Kansas Expressway to National Avenue, allowing for a total of six lanes. There will also be intersection improvements at Campbell Avenue and Republic Road. Part of this project is funded through a MoDOT cost sharing agreement with the city of Springfield."

Forgot one portion, Republic road phase 4 and 5 should be kicking off this Spring, it will add 2 lanes through the intersection and add additional turn lanes, maybe will help some.

Was talking with my mom about it last night and came up with a good idea that is probably unrealistic. Take the highway underground and smooth out S Campbell and take out all this intersections

When the southern extension of Kansas Expressway is complete, it may alleviate some the congestion. Other than that, nope, they have bigger fish to fry as of now.

Hopefully not more stroads… they just increase traffic

Considering how many cars use that area, I feel like it moves decently. I can't really come up with a plan to improve it. Got any ideas?

There's been years of talk, often centered around moving Republic Road to the North to cross Campbell, but the businesses always raise hell and it goes nowhere.

There are pockets of crime all over this city. Just as any other city of size.

When I was 12 years old (I'm 51F) I was in a Walmart in Mountain Home, AR with my mom shopping. I wandered off to look at the Barbie doll toys as I usually had done. This old creepy man approached me and asked me if I could help him. Immediately I got a stranger danger feeling. Just a fraction of a second later he was trying to physically pick me up and cover my mouth so I wouldn't yell. I YELLED....he let go and i quickly went to go look for my mom. This man followed me for 20 minutes until I found my mom and he promptly disappeared. I told my mom what happened and when we got to the checkout she asked the cashier if maybe he was store security and was told they didn't have store security. When we got outside to the parking lot there was that man again. My mom told him to back off and he did. THIS MAN TRIED TO SNATCH ME there is no doubt in my mind. I have hated Walmart ever since.
