Veteran resources like education benefits taken here at the colleges, a VA outpatient clinic that is fairly new in town, parking for veterans in many parking lots, discounts at most restaurants/stores, DAV reps but the office is a bit hard to find and get an appointment, idk what did you think wasn't a resource?

A little more context is going to be needed. For some a good first date could be a trip to Menard’s followed by a stop at an Andy’s.

For others, it could be a stroll around the native prairie meadow at Lake Springfield followed by dinner at the Ozark Mill.

Spell out some interests, budgets, etc for some better responses.

Edit: really wanted to toss humor in here, but since you noted it was a “serious question”, I contained myself.

Yeah, as far as I know development is kinda favoritized and the sequiota thing was no different. I would really like to see some affordable housing get attention in Springfield, I really hoped the enthusiasm for rejecting the sequiota development was rooted in the fact that they were going to be expensive and not just nimbyism

I don’t know all of the reasons, but I’ve heard it wasn’t about development in general, but about that specific location and what was being proposed and how it would impact the natural environment surrounding Sequiota. I understand that argument, protecting that specific spot because it is beautiful (despite the eyesore that is the quarry), but my concern is developing Springfield overall. I worry that the defeat experienced by the developer at Sequiota set a precedence for development across the city.

I think she would have a real chance of winning, especially after Springfieldians voted overwhelmingly to destroy the development at Sequiota, which she led.

I saw the bastard in person when he was first running for congress. He was in town at the republican headquarters in Springfield. I heard 20 seconds of his speech and immediately knew he was a p.o.s. He just repeated everything people wanted to hear and nothing of value. I really hope somebody finds dirt on him and he gets taken down.

Her website is melanieformayor.com

As the election approaches, candidate interviews will happen with various local organizations. Generally, KSMU will host recorded radio interviews for all local candidates, and the League of Women Voters of Springfield will put out a non-partisan voter's guide discussing candidates and issues on the ballot. They also have a Vote411.org site that's basically the same thing.

Northsider here. I can agree there are pockets of safer areas, but that doesn’t mean that it’s free of crime. We have personally dealt with a few instances that scared the bejesus out of me, specifically relating to (presumably) a homeless person on the property (in a GATED backyard) and/or in our driveway. Never resulted to anything, but still very concerning.

I’m on your side though. The north side is definitely questionable when it comes to safety!
