Id say you're biggest worry is how everyone drives here, I'm from FL and I thought drivers there were bad until I moved here and oh my are the drivers here some of the worst and scariest. Other then that it hasn't been all to bad, most people won't even say hi to ya and its more of mind ya business. I say hi to just about everyone I pass or give a friendly nod and I either get it back or ignored completely.

Fun fact from Springfield, if you didn’t already know, that kind of cashew chicken was invented here. If you were born and raised and travel elsewhere you have to ask for it “Springfield style” to get it that way it’s made here.

There are actually a good number of Russian and Ukrainian immigrants in the area. Sacramento was the big landing pad years ago but due to…reasons…SW MO emerged as the secondary place to go for first generation immigrants.

There is a…Russian or Ukrainian oriented food store just E of National and Republic Rd. Might be worth inquiring there.

And yes, there are many sudden views on Ukraine/Russia…it’s a totally diff mindset and worldview that most average people still don’t quite know how to feel after watching hours and hours after watching both sides like I have. That said, most immigrants here from there I’ve dealt with are good, hard working people. If you find a good local dual language teacher you will learn the language and the nuance.

Dude the fucking cinnamon rolls wtf, why? Why? I don't give a shit if the waitress had hairy nipples and a mustache, or the fact that they both had almost constant and continual contact from kitchen to plat to expo to table - I like to think the post menopausal breastmilk leakage and sagging, unavoidable "feted" tit sweat added that extra somethingsomething to the whole thing.

Like waking up to your dad yelling "take the trash out" while he walks by your room, stopping to - "shake off the ball water" (imagine machine gun airguitar strumming your teste's after a fresh shower...you get the damaging mental imagery?
Good...good.)

Memories...amiright?gif

I’ve also heard this. In addition, it’s takes 3 mins to get from gate to baggage claim in SGF, and it takes decently longer in more major airports.

That's wild. When was that? I noticed a decent number of older negative reviews when we were doing research preparing to move. But they always seem to have some supporters in new topics posted since I started seriously following the sub.

A lot of straight up abuse from students AND teachers went unnoticed or worse, they just didn’t care. It all depends on who your parents are. I got physically beat by classmates when I told them I was going to change schools the next year; and the administration didn’t want me to tell my parents.

People kind of lump the north side together as “the bad side” but not all neighborhoods are the same. I have lived north of Kearney street for the last 8 years in the doling neighborhood and have never had any issues or anything stolen. When we were looking for a house we found a website that showed crime for specific neighborhoods so you might look into that. When we first moved here a coworker told me that I lived in the ghetto. Meanwhile she lived on the south side in a very nice neighborhood and had a neighbor who was stabbed to death in their house a couple years later. . .
