I know nothing about the school, but as a parent of active kids that 30 minute drive will become a nightmare. Will probably be fine on a normal day, but if there is an after school activity planned, or some school performance at 7, are you willing to be driving back and forth a bunch, or just hanging out in the car waiting so you don't have to be driving back and forth? Our child goes to school 15-20 minutes away in town and even that becomes a pain in the ass.

Marionville. I also went to school in Marionville and loved it. Small class sizes, duel credit opportunities, sports. I graduated with a bachelors as well (nit that it means anything) I think rural schools get a bad reputation, but in my mind you get out of it what you put into it. I graduated with meth addicts and also graduated with future doctors.

I go there. It is fuck all expensive and the kids are indeed privileged fuckheads as someone said. Bullying is better than it used to be but definitely still a problem. Good college prep though if you don’t mind soul killing amounts of busy work

We have had a great experience and it is a wonderful education. We have not experienced bullying and I would highly recommend it. The current principal at the school is doing a really good job fostering positive school culture.

I wouldn't worry about making it into MSU, my spouse worked there for a bit over 5 years, said unless you just don't complete the enrollment process, you're going to MSU so long as you're a Missouri resident, pay your bills, and have a pulse.

Don't let that influence your decision.

This reply is spot on. By the evening flights, they may be down to one ramp crew for the entire airport. I’ve had to wait thirty minutes to take a gate because there was only one ground crew, and no one to guide the plane into the parking spot. Hopefully as flights pick up, SGF can keep more ground crews for the evening rush and start looking to bring back the valet service and build the covered sidewalk. Sometimes checking isn’t an option. When you are going out for two weeks with a bag of tools and size 14 work boots…. You ain’t ever going to get away without checked luggage.

This whole area is Trumper meth-heads. Why anyone would want to move here is beyond me. BUT, the cost of living is decent compared to big cities. Try to live in a surrounding city/town, as Springfield is fairly trashy except in the southernmost part.

Don’t do north side alone. A lot of drugged up homeless (and crime activity that’s kinda isolated to neighborhoods and janky gas stations). I live on the North side and everybody minds their business it seems. My neighbors are kind and my street is clean. Two streets over its a nightmare. It all depends. Not a whole side of the city is bad. Just don’t go alone anywhere and act disinterested to any strange people approaching you. People who really need help and approach people I’ve noticed are cautious and respect someone else’s wariness and communicates their need well. Average wage I’d say is 14/hr. Temp jobs or food service jobs are minimum wage to 15 usually. Sofa City has a good payment program to help build your credit with no credit required to start. So gives some more furniture options. I really liked lowes for our dishwasher, warranty, delivery, and installation. You can find a lot of mom and pop places. Just check stars on google if you’re ever in doubt! If you’re in a pinch were renting out a room of our house. We’re close to the highway but cox is the opposite side of the city from north side if they’re closing down the north location like I heard.

I’ve been told by Ozark graduates if you’re brought up through the Ozark system it’s fantastic and really easy. If you’re transferred in it’s a lot rougher. Every student I’ve known who was a transfer absolutely hated it.

I've never understood the rush to get groceries with snow in the forecast.

In the last 10+ years (in this area) what's the worst it has ever been? What's the longest you could possibly be stranded at home...maybe a few days max if it's really bad. Do these people rushing the stores not already have a few days worth of groceries in their house?

I can understand picking up a couple items...but I see people with an overflowing cart (or 2) like they are going to be hunkered down a couple weeks, like some type of apocalyptic event is about to happen, lol. Crazy to me.

So very much this.

The ironic thing is that the schools administrations were trying to catch up to with that kind of BS are doing the exact opposite and teaching critical thinking, big-picture type lesson plans so the students are just better able to learn and get better scores.

People seem to never learn that you have to come at this stuff sideways.

Don't know what your gifted program was like, specifically, but you have to ask yourself this: Would the 50th-percentile kids actually find it as interesting and engaging as you did, or would they have floundered and felt bad about themselves because they couldn't keep up?

>He recently qualified for their gifted program and they've gone out of their way to keep him engaged.

As someone who is just barely over into the "profoundly gifted" range, myself, I'm super glad to hear they're on top of this kind of thing.

It took until junior high for someone to actually realize I didn't have ADD, I was just bored and disengaged because the teachers weren't keeping up with the speed at which I could digest information.
