I recently moved from this area, but lived there for six years. I was just off chestnut and college. It was mostly quiet and safe. A lot of the usual critters around - this could have had a lot to do with how my yard was though. Some houses are new (less than 5 years old) some are like 100 years old. Biggest fuss in the neighborhood was from one house which was later condemned, renovated and sold to quiet people. There were a few other houses that I believe were condemned and, as far as I know, remain boarded up. That greatly decreased the amount of addicts I saw walking down the street. The power went out at least once a year, it was much more frequent when we first moved in though.

Conversely, had some friends who lived further west near Chestnut and 44 in a place where all the houses are newer (maybe around 10 years old?) and it was super quiet and safe there. No condemned houses and very little outside foot traffic. And they seemed to not experience as many outages as we did. They lived there for around four years I think.

Edited to add: also had a friend live right near the elementary school on Mt. Vernon, off bypass and it was really chill over there. Sometimes I’d go on walks from my house to that area (they have more sidewalks) and see kids riding bikes and walking home. Very quiet and seemed safe as well.

I currently live at 800 South with Elevate student living. It's been one of my worst experiences living with an apartment my whole life. The management can be passive aggressive, they often don't pick up the phone, they're not very helpful and they can be dismissive of concerns. Also the street that 800 South is on is not a safe street. This is my 3rd school year living at this location and there have been 4 shootings so far. Last summer, I went home to visit family. I came back to Springfield and found bullets in my living room floor. We called the cops and the officer who came by told us that Elevate does not work with SPD and that there's even a detective who is assigned to "monitor" what's happening on Robberson Ave.

This past Christmas and New Years, I was gone again. I came back and found out there was another shooting on the same street. Elevate did not notify their residents, because they thought that since everyone is gone, they wouldn't want us to know that it had happened!

Another complaint I have is regarding package delivery, etc. I've had packages delivered by Amazon, UPS, USPS and FedEx stolen. A lot of my neighbors have also complained that their packages get stolen too. I've also 2 bikes stolen, which is even more infuriating, because the bike rack is behind the gated area and somehow they were still stolen. (the two bikes were worth around $300 each)

Anyway, OP, if you want to chat more, feel free to DM me.
