Not necessarily what you asked for, but when I moved into my house 6 years ago, I needed a washer quick and cheap. Totally planned to get a better one at a later date. Went to Lowe's and legit found the cheapest Roper model they had. Guy on the floor said everything he could to get me not to buy it but I was in a tight spot. He told me it wouldn't even last a year. 6.5 years later I've never had a single problem with the damn thing 5+ loads a week. Top loader too!

I’m in training right now for a job with the state. Still get to live at home in KC for the time being but within the next year I’m going to have to relocate to Springfield. I was in a pinch trying to find an entry level job right out of school so I thought Springfield wouldn’t be so bad since it’s somewhat close to home, but now that I’ve visited a few times I’m wondering why on earth I thought that this would be a good idea (despite multiple people advising me otherwise) desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose…

So you act like land lords do nothing. Who do.you think pays the mortgage when the tenants don't. Who pays the mortgage when the tenants trash the house? Who pays to fix a trashed house? I know a few landlords that work a lot and pay a lot of people to do.work. You can fix your credit score. Pay your bills on time and live with a budget. Try the Dave Ramsey course. People have low credit scores as a result.of not paying their bills on time. Its pretty simple.

I don't think someone who bought a bunch of houses and rent them out for significantly more than their mortgage payment is really comparable to McDonald's. McDonald's takes raw food products and cooks them and packages them in a way that's convenient, and thus adds value. Landlords are more like people who buy McDonald's food and sell it for more than McDonald's charges to people who don't have a 750 credit score, while adding no value.

I've seen some landscaping places around town, so would probably call around.

Moved from Illinois recently. Family of five. Issues with property crime and drugs, but it's mostly an issue if you hang out and associate with these types. (You have to seek it out kind of crime.)

Cost of living is great and having a low price of gas helps maintain that. Surrounding areas of Springfield are good and will continue to boom.

Springfield itself has a small city feel with enough big city amenities. It's very large though. You will be surprised by how Lone Pine area of Springfield looks (incredible views), vs the downtown which reminds me a bit of downtown Milwaukee, but smaller. All the same city. (The cops patrol the hell out of the downtown and I've felt very safe bringing our young kids with me.)

There's alot of potential here. Don't let the naysayers who whine about politics and muh horrid Trumpers get you down. They haven't moved to any of their favored blue states for reasons beyond finances.

Enjoy Springfield.
