That happened to me. My rent went up $100 one year when I lived in one of their properties. I complained nothing was getting fixed but rent was being raised. They told me it was because all the other housing prices were going up, not because they were making improvements. Well no duh.

For some reason there’s this misconception that downtown is super dangerous. It isn’t. I’m a smaller female, and I frequented it several times a week when I lived in SGF. There’s some really cool bars, Golden Girl Rum Club is a must, Sweetboys, and Vantage to name a few. The breweries are also worth checking out! I used to do to jiu jitsu at Kokoro, they have an awesome dojo if you’re looking for a new hobby! Some really cool people there too if you’re looking to meet people! Springfield is a special place, hope you enjoy!

Big O told me “my headlights were too dim to pass” and then said they couldn’t fix them. Went to ORilley to replace them and the guy working said they looked fine. I took my car somewhere else and paid again for an inspection and they passed it. Yeah I don’t have LED headlights but geez.

>So you act like land lords do nothing.

No, I said they add no value. Leeches do something. They put effort into what they do, but they're still leeches.

>You can fix your credit score.

My credit score is perfect. I mean perfect. I get the lowest rates on everything. I've cultivated my credit score my whole life, deliberately. My investments are doing well. I'm not desperate, and that's why I'm not renting. It's true that the overall problem of low credit scores and financial illiteracy in America are as big of a problem as landlords, but the excessive rentals in Springfield is as big of a problem.

I will say that it's important to be able to rent when you need a house for less time than would make sense to buy in a particular location, and in that case landlords do add value, but our rental situation is such that the excessive rentals are screwing with housing prices, and it needs a correction. We have way too many in Springfield right now.

Avoid Downtown/MSU campus at night if you can (or the North side in general).

Other than that heres some things to do Try cashew chicken (yum yum bowl is my personal fav) During the summer/warmer days go to Nathaniel Greene park, very great place to enjoy nature and escape (also during summer days they have a free butterfly house. Its the only free butterfly house in the state so if ur gf likes butterflies I would highly reccomend) Fun acre is a cheap mini golf course and batting cages if you want something fun to do for cheap (3$ a person for 9 holes I believe and .25¢ for 5 swings) Hammons field where the Springfield Cardinals play is a great place to go watch some pro sports (Double A affiliate of the STL Cardinals) Jordan Valley ice park is right next to Hammons field and you can go ice skating there or watch hockey depending on the day 1984 in downtown (classic arcade) Lamberts Cafe (in Ozark but still fun) Missouri Sports hall of fame Silver Dollar City in Branson is not too far and very fun. The mall is an obv thing to do (small mall tho so don’t expect like a multistory supermall)

Theres plenty of other stuff to do but idk your interest and hobbies so i’ll leave that research up to you

I go to Route 66 auto on St Louis St.

I also get most of my repairs done there. I know the general standards as posted on the Highway Patrol page so I seek out the standards before needing an inspection but mine have always turned out well.

Lotta folks shit on inspections and I get it, but most of it is legit vehicle safety.

I hate, hate, HATED this company. We had a leak in the tub, which a ring on our ceiling downstairs. The maintenance staff never assessed the plumbing in the tub itself instead they painted the ceiling. Obviously this didn't fix the leak, but I couldn't see the problem anymore.

When I moved out my roommate stayed at the apartment. I asked the lady at the desk if there was anything else I needed to do to be done with this property, because I was moving out of town and didn't want to come back for any technical bs for this property. She assured me that I was all clear. Fast forward a year and a half. I'm living in KC and I get a call from Cowhard saying they need me to drive from KC in between my 12 hour shifts to sign a piece of paper to release my half of the deposit.
