I enjoyed the show well enough, but I traveled from coast to coast attending the biggest comicons in the nation for work for many years. What really disappoints me is that absolutely nobody will show up to support the local con (VisionCon) but can come out in droves to support a traveling con that does nothing for the community.

Everyone comes out of the woodwork for a show like this but can't be bothered otherwise. Just shows you aren't there for the fandoms, you're there for the celebs. Most local vendors (and I know of at least a dozen, especially local authors) weren't even given consideration for panels or booths. Local shops weren't given the opportunity to exhibit either.

Not the Cons fault by any means, but I'm disappointed in Springfield as a whole. We need to do better to support our own rather than throwing more money at the void.

Just my opinion.

That being said, Planet Comicon in KC is next month and it's one of the best in the Midwest. All you con-lovers definitely should make your way to KC!

You're only about neighbors if they do as your authoritarian regime sees fit. How people feel so entitled to tell others they can build a shed or not or if their work truck is an eye sore or not just because you bought a 1/4 acre of land is fucking hilarious.

Yeah but as many unnamed witnesses as the article claims there were, including people from various ministries, you'd think at least one person would've recorded something or even taken a picture. Even of the aftermath by somebody who didn't personally see it happen. But there's nothing. That sounds even fishier to me than the sheriff not feeding into it

Yeah, if this actually happened then that's outrageous but there's so little to go off of.

They say that they're being stonewalled when asking questions about it, which does seem a little suspicious. It'd help if the police department would at least make a statement

edit: In case anyone's curious, someone shared a link to the original video of the aftermath, and someone else shared an article posted today where the police again declined to comment. I'm as convinced as I'll ever be. If this didn't happen, the police have no reason not to deny it

Oh we went in our Skyrim cosplays! We must’ve missed you :( It was a really impressive con for a first year convention! We made the mistake of waiting to get tickets and had to wait in line for over an hour to get tickets at the door, not a bad thing though just goes to show how successful it was

Dang, why so hostile!?...and especially a fellow Ozarkian? Geez dude, did you get up on the wrong side of the keyboard?

I'm all about breaking rules, just ask that HP who gave me that last speeding ticket :-). At the same time, I also like to protect my investment, which is what an HOA fee is designed to do. Granted, some HOAs are overly strict...but if you sat on one of those boards, or any board of directors, you'd see there's a lot going on behind the scenes, most of it not very glamourous. Lots of selfish people out there that don't care about their neighbors. Personally, I'm all about neighbors, and I'm usually the first one to bring a welcome plate of cookies to a new neighbor. I think it makes a better world around me.

What if I back out of a parking spot carelessly and drag my front bumper all the way down your passenger door. Your door still works fine, but now there's this huge scrape down the side. Would you care? Your car still drives fine; it does all the things that a car needs to do to be useful.

No, you would not be ok with that. Why? Because you don't want to look at a big old gash down the side of your door every single time you get in and out of your car, and it greatly decreases the value of your car.

It's the same thing with neighborhoods. You can park an old dead El Camino in your front yard and my house still does everything it's supposed to do. It keeps me warm and the rain off of me just like it always did. But I don't want to look at that dead El Camino with weeds growing up through the engine compartment every time I go in our out my front door, and it reduces the value of my house.

I guess it's a NIMBY (NIMFY? NIYFY?) thing to not want to live near unpleasant things. I don't know what to tell you if that baffles you.

He was very gracious. We met almost all the celebrities and there were so many we had to split up. Mick Foley was a hoot! My husband met Corey Taylor (said he was super nice!). We met Keone Young (a joy!) and Doug Jones (lovely person)!

We prepurchased but one of our friends didn't so she was in that line FOREVER on Saturday morning.

If you were a board member of an HOA and you issued a lien on someone's house for $50 or a lien for any reason tbh, you're a straight up sack of shit. We live in the stupidest fucking country in the world. Hoas are a fucking blight on society.

It's not that deep. People like the new design enough to want to own a flag or some apparel of it. Who really cares if the original intent was to profit? The city gets a better looking flag and those who put in the work to make it happen get to profit from those who wish to own the new design. Seems like a win-win for both sides, not this "profiteering con" you seem to be implying.

So great! We had so much fun! I met the actual Hulk! It was a great Con and I was so happy to see it was so well attended. I can't wait for next year!
