Oh of course. Tear them town and build luxury apartments 95% of the city can't afford

Yes, it is. I had to do home checks for all my fosters before they went to their new homes. With my foster dog I made sure the fence was secure and tall enough without room to go under, etc. With the cats and the dog I checked for plants that are toxic to pets and things like that. A lot of people don't know about toxic houseplants, essential oil diffusers, and other hazards. No one is trying to invade your privacy -- just make sure the home will be safe for the animal and possibly give some helpful tips for bringing the new pet home.
With the dog we spent weeks meeting up in public parks so the dog they already had could get to know the new dog on neutral territory. Then we spent a few more weeks with me bringing the new dog to their house for play dates. This was necessary for these two large dogs. It wouldn't always be.

The specific recommendations that are spoken of in the article are what I’m referring to

The article is about the council beginning to discuss how to handle abandoned or seriously dilapidated properties. Surely you don't mean that this discussion itself will force homelessness onto thousands.
Is there a more particular policy or program which you are opposing?

There is absolutely no reason for us not to build churches on top of car washes. You can have your sins and mud washed away for one monthly fee

That's what many of them are right now. This article is about how the city should deal with those affordable housing units which are dilapidated while occupied, or abandoned by the owners.

I also credit Snodgrass for getting Maria Bamford to perform at MSU because he was on the activities committee or something similar. Then, in 2019 I saw him open for Todd Barry, so he’s closely associated with the only two standup events I’ve ever been to.

I was thinking more along the line of condemning tons of houses that are currently housing people. But yes also that.
I’m all for regulation and making sure things are safe, but we need a plan of what to do on the way of getting there. It’s missing steps.

Absolutely. Added regulation and costs will be passed onto the end users, people struggling to pay their bills already. Rents go up, fewer can afford them. These fools will cripple the same people they claim to be helping and few will take the time to realize it.

Restore SGF and the Blue House Project are doing just that. (I realize your comment was tongue in cheek.)

Turn them into shelters for spiders and termites. They get cold and want to get warm too. Nobody ever thinks about the spiders.

There are actually a lot of little places like that around here. They don't get advertised much, which keeps them a little more special I think. https://www.springfieldcommunitygardens.org/gardens
edit: the Midtown garden at Division and Benton has a free plant exchange where they invite people to take or leave plants, I like that one.

I'm sure it's used more now that the area has more development, but when I was younger the little lake with a walking path around it behind Burrell on S. National was pretty quiet. It's off of Bradford Parkway, Schaible Lake. Tiny little area between the medical buildings near Cox South. And I'm sure the boy scouts use it plenty, but there's a wooded area with a trail and a pond behind the Boy Scouts building on Eastgate.
If you don't mind the drive/bike ride, there's a little park off of the Frisco Trail as you get close to Bolivar called La Petite Gemme Prairie that I don't think a lot of people know about. It's literally just a few acres of prairie. Probably pretty beautiful with spring flowers soon.
