Honestly if youre gonna go out and be an overbearing cock munch, than just dont go out. People in service industry jobs deserve as much respect as anyone else if not more

I think people may not realize that they can add more heat. New Oriental, a lunchtime favorite at my work. became too sweet for my tastes but they've always been happy to add more heat if I ask.

I stand corrected. Didnt realize he lived in Strafford now. Sorry, the blunt = bad threads get cringey for me. I'm a research scientist at msu and he's been a huge benefactor to university science research programs throughout his career. His staff have met with Schmitt to try and drive home how important science funding is but I doubt it will help. Sad to say Schmitt and Burleson are going to make Blunt and Long look like benevolent geniuses and both msu and mizzou are going to miss the guy, regardless of how we feel about his politics.

Talk about it here and you'll get "both sides"-d. In real life most people are wholly over it. Unfortunately the deeper people fall into online chatter the farther they are moved from reality. Thus changing reality. It's a problem

The forecasted highs low for a couple days are more feb extremes here…but there is a huge bubble of cold air at the northern pole right now.
I follow a twitter user who talks about how the coincidence of super cold air in winter is preceded by a warm autumn…because the energy of the cold/dense air pulls in air from more southern latitudes to keep the dense ball of energy going. Seems counter intuitive of warm versus cold but air density is more scientifically used than temp.
We see temperature as degrees, but nature sees temperature and density. I saw another post elsewhere that talked about how much energy or lack there of was required to freeze things and keep them frozen. Very scientific but interesting based on how we normal humans view warm vs cold. Thanks for coming to my RedditX talk.

Reply to Ethiopian restaurant by Redneckshittery
So there is an African market at bypass and Kearney by the Kum and Go. I happened upon it today and am food adventurous so I looked around.
The lady was very nice and said there is kind of an idea coming about within the African community here for a potential African restaurant. I asked if there was any main group of people coming from Africa and she said it was honestly pretty spread out. Which means Moroccan is not Ethiopian is not South Africa or tropical west Africa. Much the same as we see diff popular dishes historically in diff regions in the US. That honestly sounds pretty interesting because I’m ok with trying and liking diff things.
I’ve had Ethiopian before and it’s pretty good. Prob could support a small place here. But I’d welcome a range of flavors. We are so blessed nowadays to not just have another menu based on the idea of food from another culture or continent but be able to taste and realize the differences as people who have never visited that continent.

This is very true, but I wonder if something new is happening. There is a cultural shift going on which has actually shifted the balance of power. It's been going on for a long time, of course, but the tides are at a point in which those who used to be in a comfortable majority are no longer so comfortable in that majority. One half used to see the other as being a detriment to their way of life, but now they're forced to see the other half as actually having power over them as well. You can see that it's distressing to them in ways that it didn't used to be. Suddenly they're all saying they feel tread upon. Make things be like they used to be. Even this trend of tattered flag stickers and t-shirts is representative of them feeling like their country is being torn apart. They want you to know they're not happy, and you're going to feel it behind the counter, too.

If you are that close, take a couple days off, grab a hotel for a night and explore the area.
I’m from not too far from where you are originally and Nixa/Ozark/SW SGF are all their own things but not the same and maybe for diff reasons to me than you. Carthage is not WC is not CJ is not Neosho. But people all live in each for diff reasons. It seems like you have time on your side…that’s good…esp in a soon to be falling RE market. There are even some smaller school districts with maps that put you close to 65 Highway such as Strafford or Fair Grove. I will say which side of Branson is a total thing. The 65 side/East can take some good time to get from Hollister to Kimberling City/Hwy 13 side of things if you pick the less convenient option of location. Half my job in the past was to drive and I’ve seen most every community and road between KS and West Plains.
You have time but should spend that with some weekend trips to familiarize yourself with the local situation at each option.

You take the internet giving everyone a voice, add in a pandemic where everyone could only socialize by that form of communication, and it gives birth to what we are dealing with now. It sucks.
But I fight demons everyday that the person next to me doesn’t even know I’m fighting, so I try to show kindness when I can.

The forecast for minimal…2” of snow here the 48 hrs before is pretty flip floppy. Cold has zero to deal with flights as airliners operate at up to -70 degrees at altitude.
2” of snow is not a problem for ground crews here, esp if day before.

I went from a decent middle class career where I showed up and had the stress and did the thing and I got to go spend and do things. I was not some even mid level southside subdivision resident nor would I want to be. I make less now and am not just happier and more simple but also see so much not just consumerism but trying to maintain face and status quo…for largely people who have half the time “fake” job titles. Fake because it’s largely subdivides of what was one persons job decades ago.
There are people who will wait in a 23 deep Starbucks’s line in their car to avoid being maybe customer number 2 if you parked and walked inside and left 30 minutes earlier. That’s not even shitty weather dependent….it’s every hour they are open.
Many people in this country have became soft as we became a service based economy instead of a manufacturing economy and honestly still have too much money and entitlement.
The economic side of my interests sees a bad next decade. Real owners know the customers that aren’t worth the trouble and would rather reward the good ones or spend time trying to bring in new ones. Retail secret shops and ratings are a Karen business evaluation model that is not helpful for the most part. We all have bad days, but it’s ok to not deal with PITA’s when needed.

Less about income and more about saving and paying more on our mortgage for the past 12 years! But yes, we are blessed to be able to afford in that price range.
