Reply to They appeared in deepfake porn videos without their consent. Few laws protect them. by LiveStreamReports
I am going to need a link to, uhm, research how 'believable' the porn might be.
Also, if someone told me, "Hey, you're in a porno." My first reaction would NOT be, "Wait, am I on this?"
Unless, of course, there was the real possibility that I WAS in a pr0n....

Just like older vehicles too. I want something I can work on and that I’m familiar with. I don’t want bad sensors or faulty wiring harnesses getting in the way of me troubleshooting and fixing the problem. I don’t need power windows; heated and cooled seats; 97 position seats with memory for all the family; a radio with satellite, internet, and Bluetooth; or power mirrors and running boards. I just need a dependable piece of equipment that does it’s job, which is work. I don’t need pre-programmed features that will farm for me, the way some programmer thinks it should (FYI, I appreciate the hell out of what programmers do and respect the position).

Poweresports, atv’s, utv, and watercraft are just as bad but since they are not as large a market or expensive and considered toys, they don’t get the coverage.

Deere is not dumb. They simply claim that people are reflashing the software to add more power and bypass DEF and emissions controls and most in the government nod their heads in agreement.

I had no idea that farming equipment had this issue as well.
Also explains why so many people swear by their ancient tractors

How are you so sure there's a 0% chance? I said the MAY be, not are the best way. Any ban hurts technology progress. ICOs might make a comeback from some amazing discovery. Obviously not likely but still.
I agree my arguments are weak and don't seem to hold up. (I eyed on some studies just now).
CaryWhit t1_j8mpxh8 wrote
I fully support this. Deere and others could easily allow access to most data and lock down other parts so it couldn’t be reflashed or modified. We are Deere people and simple keep our older tractors well maintained and will not be getting new. It leads to another phenomenon that is not specific to the tractor industry, that customers only take a vehicle in for warranty work due to the labor rate, and use independent mechanics for after warranty work. There is often a 100 dollar an hour difference in labor rate.

"Its a little weird for a person to be bad at chemistry."
"Why?"
"Because it's a basic function of living things. "

My neighbour had a mid 2000 Kia van, the transmission blew months later, then the engine blew after less than a year.

And it wasn't even specifically trained for this. It's just knowledge/skill it happened to have picked up from the training data.
I can't wait to see what a LLM can do when it's is specifically trained on all medial text.
A lot of professionals are going to have some amazing tools to make their jobs easier within a few years. They could definitely make fewer of those professionals needed.
Could many doctors be replaced with AI and some medial techs? Could this make healthcare finally affordable? We'll see.

AI will take jobs, it will be bad AI and give bad service.
The risk here is in declining service, not AI directly. We are already being trained to accept bad service. Call centre staff with no authority and who don't care are doing this today. AI will have less authority and zero humanity.
Good luck arguing with your Tesla when it won't allow the brakes cause your credit card declines.
You will die, short by AI police, after blasting through a bunch of pedestrians - all the while knowing your feedback is important and that you are a valued consumer

I would have thought that math would be the easiest thing for AI.

I can't see that happening.

Imagine the profits you would make buying the very last "high end" (think ST/RS/SVT/M/AMG) of every ICE car produced as close to 2035 as possible... They will be completely priceless in the future.

Yeah my car is older than 12 years. Why would I buy a gasoline car today when it's a dying tech? A Tesla now looks like my next step, but I'll want to weather this economic downturn first.
