I have a hunch here... I think that this has something to do with the court decision that was talked about in the last few days... The one about internet service providers not being publishers. something something (supreme?) court case that could change the the ways of the internet.

If you read the wording of that 27-or-something-year-old law, it states that the service providers are not automatically publishers or something. Now hear me out, I know I'm not precise here with Legalese and all that jazz. Social networks got away with being the service providers and publishers at the same time for years, by providing the platform free of charge and selling ads, moderating content, pushing narratives, meddling with elections, selling personal data etc. — which allowed them to recoup the costs of providing the website infrastructure...

but if they suddenly start actually selling the usage of the platform directly for money, that makes them not-publishers-and-only-innocent-poor-little-service-providers who are not liable for the content posted.

sorry if I'm vague or not well informed, I just skimmed across some articles on here the other day, but now a little light came on, please tell me if I'm wrong or if I'm onto something here, so far you understood what I want to say at all that is. Thanks

edit: found it!

“No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.”

So the difference is •creating an opinion from nothing vs •refining/confirming your own opinion vs •making your opinion sound better (to sound formal, whatever)

Ok, it doesn't change that you can still do any of these tasks with it. It doesn't matter that you're using it ~the right way~. It doesn't change that people will use it Wrong (or for whatever they want) and it doesn't change the impact it will have on society. Nice "not me tho" comment

The ones that are good are really good, the ones that are bad are really really bad, ive got both experiences and let me tell you that the ones that are bad quickly make you forget about the good ones, i dont know why in India is like this, because every nationality has good and bad professionals

But even today, we have no problem finding exploitation or other wrong doings.

Everyone on this thread could probably list out a dozen or more current and ongoing evils being perpetrated on the public.

The question will be, will humanity be willing to turn over human agency to an inhuman entity? Because unless the AI’s judgement has teeth, and can not only initiate actions against wrong doers, but also ensure justice is done, it’s just one more channel or subreddit of information that can be ignored or discredited.

That was all I needed to hear to have absolutely no interest.

Didn't know it was planned to come with a battlepass and I won't be engaging with it at all due to that. Live service design philosophy tends to work directly against enjoyable and complete baseline gameplay.

What you said sounds like you are probably right, but, bro, I don't understand half of those references, ha ha. I played D2 with expansion packs on solo, no mods, for years. No guides or anything. I was really too old to be spending all day playing video games back then, when you actually had time to see if some weird ass combo was going to work out or you'd be halfway through the game before realizing you screwed the pooch and should start over or expect a lifetime dependence on potions. So now I'm way out of the loop and so old I fart dust.

I hear what you're saying, and in general I like the ability to reset skill trees in most games, I just liked that with Diablo you really got a run for your money with builds because it took getting your ass kicked but unwilling to restart to find a creative way to make some wonky crap actually work.
