A lot of the pre-mass-public social media in the 80s and 90s was actually heavily moderated and fairly civil, because the bar to entry was pretty high.

  1. Afford a PC.
  2. Afford a way to connect PC to an online service.
  3. Depending on the service, pay additional fee for Internet specific access.

You could create anonymous names, but your ISP, your online service provider, would know your real info, so getting banned was a lot more of a threat at the time as a result.

You can raise that bar to entry monetarily, and you'd likely get a similar chilling effect. Not necessarily 'great' as a solution, but it is a solution.

Running at 120fps means that every single thing you do has to fit with the rest of the game and run in less than 5 milliseconds. Everything is performant by necessity… but only up to a point. You can spend years optimizing every single bit of waste to squeeze as much as you can out of the hardware, but at the end of the day, you have to cut your losses. Does another year of optimizing justify supporting older hardware, that won’t even support the full experience?

I noticed the quality for bath towels (for the same price) Made in India are nicer than ones made in China but other than that I don't expect great results from India (or another country for the low price/product output) knowing how massive the Chinese manufacturing system is for tech and their factory work culture.
