I'm thinking of shows that have a great premise, great character(s), and great acting, but for some reason or another squander it. The show I have in mind for this is The Man in the High Castle. A truly unique premise and one of the best acting performances I have ever seen, in Rufus Sewell, but somehow managed to fall short of greatness. The first two seasons were good, but the show became convoluted and ended in a bewildering fashion. And I'm still upset when I think about it because I can't imagine how insanely amazing it could have been in more competent hands.

Edit: I feel that I should qualify that this is not really about shows whose endings squandered their potential, but more so shows that, as a whole, didn’t live up their potential.
