External tuners and especially DVRs are expensive and only have a few manufacturers at this point. Tablo pulled theirs, some report Homerun HD do not work with some broadcasters. I could use a tuner, but it needs to be in the $50 range. I would pay $200 for a dvr since my recast is dying, but there is no guarantee those on the market will work with the final standards since the standards seem to be evolving.

Brian Cox as Logan Roy in Succession! But honestly, the entire cast of Succession deserves this one!!!

And obviously Bryan Cranston as Walter White is a must in a list like this. Even the man, Anthony Hopkins himself, said that it was the best acting performance he had ever seen

Never assume malice when incompetence / laziness / greed are more than enough to explain things. Mindy Kaling hasn't been funny for years but she's well connected. Focus groups have at least passing awareness and interest in the Scooby-Doo franchise, especially in key age groups. Edgy reboots of popular IPs are the lazy way to tap into a preexisting pool of potential viewers. Streaming services are keen to follow the Disney+ model of throwing as much shit on the wall as possible to see what sticks. The entertainment industry has really lost touch with how the art and workmanship of writing / storytelling are crucial. Add these all together and it's more than enough to explain how Velma could get made.

Oz was super fun, tons of memorable characters and shockingly gruesome at times

I don't consider it a top 5 HBO show but that's just because HBO has produced so many amazing shows like the Wire, Rome, the Sopranos and the Deuce

I hated SATC and still do. They took themselves seriously as something to aspire to. As horrible as Patsy and Eddie are as people, I would take them anyday over the SATC foursome.
