It took me 3 tries to get into it, but it definitely ended up worth it.

Their website is having a stroke right now it seems, I have to click it like 7 times for it to load.
Just tried again and it said "maintenance in progress"

I love sci-fi and tried The Expanse a few yrs ago after seeing reviews. I think I watched 3 episodes and stopped. This makes me want to go back.

It really was a difficult show to watch. Interesting stories and characters, but I really had to force myself to finish out the series, it felt like a depressing slog. Obviously the subject matter is not meant to be light and cheery, but it's not great when you're dreading each new episode...

Black Mirror - S1E1 startles most. Push past it or skip it.
Succession is pretty slow until ep. 6, where it starts to pick up.
Arrested Development (2003) takes a few episodes to get into, but the payoff is tremendous.

Thanks for this. Totally agree about The Wire. Took several episodes to get into the Wire due to the density. Ended up loving it by the end. Started season 2 and had a totally different vibe. I think I fell off after 3 episodes. I've been meaning to go back to it.

Reply to comment by [deleted] in ‘Poker Face’ is an absolute gem of a show. Would be blowing up if it was on a larger streaming service by mattyhegs826
As an independent streaming service: Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.
Through SkyShowtime: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Netherlands, Nordics, Portugal, Serbia, and Slovenia.
I know about all that. Still a lot of countries are left out.

It’s a great show. The entire family loves it. It’s like a throwback but with a prestige format.

I honestly don't consider that a retcon, since we already got glimpses of O'Neil's true personality ("Give my regards to King Tut asshole!") in the film. At the start of the film he was suicidal due to what happened with his son (making him the perfect candidate to lead the expedition), but by the end he's come to terms with it and decided to go on living, paving the way for Richard Dean Anderson's subsequent portrayal in the show.

Homeland was great. Its funny cause the start of each season you would be like "is this show still good?" and then by the end of the season think it was great. Some very good acting throughout (Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, F Murray Abraham, Damien Lewis)
Dexter is great in parts. It does get less so as it goes on; you have minor one note characters that start in the background come to the forefront and get more screen time, but not really any better. The main line arcs are pretty good each season.
Newsroom is great if you like Aaron Sorkin's style; fast pace, idealist dialog. If you have watched his stuff and didn't care for ti, it is not for you.
Boardwalk Empire I enjoyed a lot. Semi historical crime-mob drama set in the 1920s. The last season went off the rails as they found out late it was gonna be the end and to wrap things up.
Ray Donovan was ok. What you see at the start is mostly how each season plays out. Nothing great, or extremely interesting, but never really bad either.
I'd recommend them in the order I have listed. Only bump up The Newsroom if you really like Sorkin TV/Movies, or bump to the bottom if you don't.

Yes dude! I had a completely similar experience. I watched the first few episodes back when the show was fresh and it kinda didn’t grab me. Also a lack of attention probably.
Then last year I gave it another try and wow. It is one of my TOP series of all time. It’s amazing.
