Not just for those 2 characters. It gave you a reason to give a shit about the letter. Yeah the comparison of Tess to Bills partner make us and Joel emotional. But it also helps us relate to Joel realizing he needs to protect Ellie.

They could have just had Joel find Bills letter and just move on. Instead they added emotional "filler" that shows us that even though they weren't exactly friends, Joel respected Bill so much that his (and his partner's) death still upset him.

I was aged 7 or 8 when it first aired in the U.K. in 1974 and I was always deeply confused by Happy Days. I didn't understand that it was a current series, it was so un-funny that I assumed it had to be a re-run of a show from the 50s. I didn't understand why the audience acknowledged Fonz when he walked into a scene. I didn't understand how all these actors, who were clearly adults, could still be in high school. I just didn't get any of it. Clearly, it was an issue of culture shock, because the series is much-beloved in the U.S.

I'm not talking about this show. I'm talking about the other they do, like Wednesday and Tiger King. Never would have zoomed up to the top had they not put those shows on a pedestal already.

And then the article campaigns that kept getting posted on Reddit. You could throw a stick and hit some article gushing about Andor or Wednesday.

Things can’t just be “very good” or “bad” on the internet. I really enjoyed this episode but I saw a headline calling it the best episode of television in a decade and personally it’s not even the best episode of television in the last month. Doesn’t detract from the fact that it was an excellent episode of TV.

The outbreak is my favourite part of every pandemic show/movie, especially zombie ones. It’s actually why I’ve been enjoying The Last of Us so much, every episode has had an outbreak flashback.

28 Days Later is the only film I think skipping most of the outbreak made better. The Walking Dead is extra bad because it skipped the outbreak and it copied 28 Days Later’s start exactly
