Well, given that HBO MAX is kicking the bucket in March when it gets absorved by Discovery+.

I'm open minded but I get it. Both seem pretty derivative on the surface and you have to wonder if they'll actually be comic book shows. Or will they just have a light DC skin on them. Is Waller going to be its own thing or a Jack Ryan style thriller with a DC character? And they've done the DC Game of Thrones already, it was called Krypton and it wasn't very good. I trust Gunn enough to give him the benefit of the doubt though.

It’s also stupid because as a viewer you still experience the gray area. My wife who never played the game (I have) says she doesn’t like Joel. She feels bad he lost his daughter and understands how that made him cynical, but she thinks he’s a selfish dick who hasn’t learned to make peace with his past. Which is accurate so far and belies any attempt to say they have glossed over Joel’s bad choices and outlook.

And, without going into too many spoilers, both feature a talking dog who proves crucial to the plot.

He "hears me sniff"? I wasn't even thinking that. I can enjoy a piece that's hostile to the reader but this reads like he's trying to be contrarian

Dude, your entire post reads of cringe. The characters were always gay - the only thing the episode did was give them a much more cohesive, nuanced and realistically emotional backstory.

The only people who think that "everything is being made gay" are the people who aren't comfortable enough in their world view to be able to accept the fact that not everyone looks, acts or lives like them.

Spoiler alert: if you think this episode was gay, wait til you see season 2.

Its good, different and funny. But its a bit overrated. It doesnt really capture the essence of Sopranos.

Justin Theroux blew me away. I don't get how he's not a huge star. He's so fucking good.

I love what 4x05, and 3x05 for that matter, accomplish in terms of being unique episodes on the technical side. One being a no dialog episode & the other a faux 1 take. But they didn't pack that emotional punch that some other episodes in the series did.
