“It feels contradiction for the sake of it.”

Yes.

And I’ll add that he shouldn’t write reviews or interpret what an episode means until viewed through the lens of the whole story, or season. He is wildly wrong about why this episode exists or what it is meant to achieve.

That said, Last Of Us has always been great but overrated. It excels in many areas, but he is right that it borrows tropes and plot devices from a long library of zombie and post-apocalyptic medium. I immediately thought of Children of Men back playing the game.

However, it’s strength lies in the Joel and Ellie dynamic. That’s what elevated what might be forgettable zombie fare into something really special. And that’s what he’s missing - because he doesn’t have the whole story.

I came in half way through the shoot with a crew that replaced the previous crew, and stayed until the end. In the couple months I was there, we went through 2 directors, 2 DPs and had a 10 day hiatus due to one of the directors being unceremoniously canned. I think the show burned through 3 directors total.

I actually enjoyed the show for what it was worth. The subject matter was interesting, albeit some of the story telling was a little heavy handed.

I’m bummed to see it got canceled…but not in the least bit surprised.

Will this lead to an increase in television series in other streaming services being released on CD/Blu-Ray as well? Only if customers demand it.

It’s probably too late for the Showtime back catalogue as Paramount owns it now. Foolish maneuver on their part. Don’t they know how many people re-watch their favourite shows?

Yep, same boat. I have enough other stuff I still want to watch on the services I already subscribe to that I can't justify adding another one, even though I really want to check out Poker Face.

I might consider adding Peacock for a month or two next time I unsubscribe from something else, but at this point it's really getting tough to justify so many subscriptions, even though most of them have at least one or two shows that I'm really interested in.

He made shows that appealed specifically to the CW market. You can't fault him for that. And as much as I've hated some aspects of that "universe," there was still more good than bad. Hell, some of it, you can lay at Geoff Johns' feet since he pushed for the Flash and moving Arrow away from the more Nolan-inspired take of the first two years.

Also compared to say Gotham, Themyscira (Paradise Lost) and Green Lantern corps (Lanterns) have not been done to death. We have had so much world building and adjacent content for Batman, Superman, and even Flash / Green Arrow, but there's been very limited filmed world building for Wonder Woman or Green Lantern.

La Brea drinking game:

Do a shot anytime one character decieves another, the decieved character calls them out, or a character mentions "family".

You'll be trashed before the first commercial break and dead by the end of the show.
