Reply to What was better at their peak: Thursday Nights on NBC or Sunday Nights on HBO? by Skipper_Eyechild
That lineup didn't air in that order in 2010. It did briefly at the end of the 2011-2012 season. Anyway, I'd argue peak Must See TV was 1984-1987. Cosby - Family Ties - Cheers - Night Court.

Lmao wrong Thursday night NBC era dude. Must see TV shows like Friends and Seinfeld are still talked about thirty years later. ER was absolutely huge and the Greys Anatomy of its day.
HBO had shows that Reddit nerds like. NBC had shows that everyone in America liked.

Showing gay people existing that were gay in the source material isn’t catering. It’s just telling the story.

I just spit water all over my iPad. Well received by WHOM? DnD fans were trashing it even before the OGL apocalypse, and Normies have been as indifferent to it as any other late winter/early spring release.
Opening weekend might not be horrible thanks to Chris Pine fans, but after that it's toast.

Go read the user reviews for some of the 1/10. There is more behind those than just not enjoying the episode.

It does, but arguably not much - and what it does in terms of >!Joel's characterisation!< could've been accomplished in other ways.
It was obviously an emotional and very well crafted mostly bottle episode, and in terms of that it was about as high quality as you're gunna get, but in the context of the overall series you could honestly skip it and not miss much.

Reply to NBC’s ‘La Brea’ Likely To End With Abbreviated Season 3 As Networks Start Building Strike Contingency by klutzysunshine
Can anyone name a network drama television show that isn't copaganda, or about firefighters or doctors that is still on the air and has run for more the six seasons?
Edit: Kung Fu and Nancy Drew are on season 3, we do have the CW's The Flash, and if we're generous The Equalizer is on season 3, technically not about law enforcement, even though she is a former CIA agent. A Million Little Things is ending after their 5th season.

Finally someone looking at it with some sobriety, unlike yesterdays wankfest of "best hour of television 10/10". Could not agree more.

And that’s a perfectly fine take! I’m in the “I loved it” crowd. She’d a few tears for sure, but can see how people think it doesn’t do anything for the main story. I can argue it does, but that’d be spoiler filled.

Huge difference between 'I didn't really enjoy that episode' and something being so bad that it's rated a 1/10.

Like I literally could not point to a single movie or TV show I've ever seen in my entire life that would be considered a 1/10 lol.
I could give less of a shit about people's ratings, but I do think it's an interesting topic seeing how many people are just truly seething at this episode enough to log into IMDB and rate something a 1/10...when a 1/10 is something on par with what my golden retriever would write and direct

Because Season Two was dog splat that flew hard under the radar after the only reason people watched left. Phoebe needs to give her manager a raise for that sound advice.

It’s different in other countries. In Canada Showtime and HBO are bundled together in a service called, ‘Crave’. Therefore it’s on more of an equal footing. It doesn’t appear as a second tier to HBO. It just has a slightly different focus.
Like the article stated, Showtime was responsible for Weeds, Homeland, Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara, etc. Too many female-led productions? And queer content like The L Word and Queer as Folk. Too minority focused? But there’s Dexter, Masters of Sex and Shameless. Dexter’s recent re-boot was incredibly successful. End of an era I guess.

Yup!
We’re about to come full circle but likely without the opportunity to ‘own’ any of the content we want to re-watch. No more releases on VHS, DVD or even digital (e.g, iTunes).
This has been a long time coming. Television shows are going to be just like SaaS (Software as a Service). Monthly fees to access what they want us to view not necessarily what we want to see.

Agree. Jaime is my boy, and Xolo getting cast had me sqeee'ing like a preteen harajuku girl. Hope he gets rolled into the prime continuity and isn't left in the wings with the Elsewhere stuff.

Children of Men meets the Happening meets [insert smart/fast Zombies movie here].
And despite derivatives (aren’t all stories these days?) I’m hooked because it feels original with the writing and acting.

One of my very favourite bits of Cunk - her quick 3 minute Moments of Wonder bit about the nature of Time -
https://youtu.be/NvpbW7JRu0Q
I think something that, subconsciously, makes her work especially well for me is that she speaks in such a similar tone and cadence to Professor Brian Cox (who she has interviewed).
