Talking about cost.
It was the most expensive star wars show, by almost double(15-20m/ep), and had the lowest viewership engagement of the live action shows.

Andor was 15-20 mil/episode and had 12 episodes.
Way too expensive for the lowest live action viewership/engagement.

It never made sense to me. You re an on demand service, therefore your users choose you because you can decide what to watch and when, so what s the point in watching random stuff?

Jaime Lannister went through the most extremes of first hating him then later wanting him to be the generational hero the whole ending revolved around.

Some of them do like Extraodinary Attorney Woo. I think it worked really well in those episodes.
>As I said, that’s more palatable to me than double standards.
Yeh fair enough. Not a fan of Hollywood's weird double standards. It feels like a lot of "strong women" character arch types just takes traits associated with "toxic maculinity" but then is presented as a positive thing lol.

Would that be the Jim Cameron who has used all of these techniques to great effect?
It’s a bizarre take really. I’d like to know your credits for you to be claiming that Cameron is the only good director. I have to assume this is a troll because it shows a stunning lack of literacy in film and television language which undercuts the sheer confidence in their opinions as fact.

They feel closer to Japanese productions to me than Western ones, which isn’t really surprising, considering they’re both Asian countries.
Many of their productions seem to have a wider political meaning (like criticizing capitalism or Korean society), but they don’t seem very concerned about gender or being politically correct. As I said, that’s more palatable to me than double standards.

that is a very bad point. if we would have cars driving on 4 wheels that are square and suddenly someone comes around with round wheels. everybody would think fuck why did we drive 100 years on square wheels. round wheels are so much better. same case with extensive use of blur.
a good director does not need shaky cam or extensive blur to get his point around.
that is why James Cameron is so important. he shows us what is possible if taken the time and commitment. he does not need cheap tricks like extensive motion blur or shaky cam. he is like the tom brady, gretzky, messi, tiger woods of movie making. he is so far ahead of everyone else. and every time i think does no one else understand it? it is not just the special effects, it is the way how he shoots his movies.

>It is, but not even close. And they make a conscious effort to try to move away from sexism against female characters and are many times written by people who consider themselves feminists.
It's a weird situation of poor writers. Some feel like the only way to elevate a demographic of characters is to put another demographic down.

Yeh... although even if it's "fair" I'd rather not have either.

Yeh this is true.
Two and a Half Men aged poorly and not just because of Sheen but Alan, dude is a major creep at times.
I recently rewatched My Wife and Kids episodes and some of the scenes were a bit iffy.
Even recent ones like Baby Daddy have probably aged bad.

Pretty much before streaming, ALL (American) tv had to fit into some concept of a time slot. This was done for a variety of reasons, most importantly for syndication purposes.
But to get around it, TV shows would do mulitipart episodes. A lot of To Be Continueds.
Twin Peaks was not immune to this. It’s long eps were 90 minutes each which, conveniently, divides up to 45 minutes per half for broadcast purposes.
Anyway, once you open that box, all bets are off. Star Trek DS9 ended its run with a literal 10-parter.

People on this site have a tendency to assume something is no longer popular just because they're not in the target demographic anymore.
Like obviously you heard more buzz about wrestling in the 90s, you were probably a kid and so were all your friends.

>media. It’s just sexist about both genders
So are western ones it's just probably more normalised to you so you don't notice it.
>I guess the double standards annoy me more than the sexism itself in recent productions. The way they consciously try to avoid sexism against one gender, but not the other. The way most characters from one gender are upstanding, while the responsible for problems, prejudice and all bad things belong to the other.
Okay... I do see what you mean here and it's a shame you got downvoted for it. That is done more awkwardly overt the last few years.
This is why shows like BCS and ATLA are nice to watch, it treats both its male and female characters with respect.
