I think of it as a sardonic way of expressing the desire to quit on a relationship. And in that perspective it makes a nice companion to the Sara Bellias "Gravity" song.

Spellbound, Still... Whenever you see a new show or movie with an S in Production Weekly, it's possibly for Apple. Or SApple.

I literally never call the show bad. If it was bad, I would have stopped watching before the end of the episode.Regardless, it’s not a big deal. I was only asking a question so people can either answer it or not.

This is my thing, the best parts of the mockumentary show were when they just gave up and made Miss Piggy’s show the Muppet Show by including all the same dumb skits. But to be fair, when they tried a straight up reboot/sequel type thing in the nineties it was also a failure. Maybe they’re still shy about it because of that.

never really thought of the show as sinister even though it gets dark at times

I could spend 9$ for a subscription or just wait to buy it later. Starz is a notoriously shitty streaming service as far as content goes so they literally force ppl into longer term subscriptions to make that money up

At this point, pretty much every A-list name in Hollywood has a high-profile project with Apple, except for Timothee Chalamet.

THANK YOU! I've felt like for the longest time this was the most obvious way to go. It's actually crazy they haven't explored doing that for so long now.

Reply to Why have dramas like Breaking Bad and the Sopranos remained relevant while others such as Lost and Dexter remained in the 2000s? by LakeMcKesson
While lost was groundbreaking in the way it told its story I think that the show itself doesn’t have a lot of rewatchability for those who already saw it. I also think with people’s viewing habits today it’s a tough sell to get new people to watch over 100 episodes of an uneven show, especially since you have to pay attention while watching & can’t multitask (scroll on your phone) while watching it.
Dexter I think blew all its goodwill with a lousy ending, the new season was like trying to heal a shotgun blast with a band-aid.
Breaking Bad was one of the first show to hugely benefit from streaming & twitter. The ratings weren’t great at first despite it getting a lot of critical acclaim & Emmy wins. The buzz around it got people streaming the early seasons on Netflix & then stuck with it through the end on AMC. I think it was one of the early shows that had a lot of live-tweeting going on, which also led to some pretty classic memes & Gifs online.

I'll give it at least three episodes to see where the show is heading, if it is actually good, I'll continue watching it. I've only watched the first one and have yet to see the second episode.
Personally, it could've been more suitable if they cut the bulk of the scenes and reduce the runtime to half an hour. But that's just me.

Until the premiere they change the title to just Savant. They love a name with an S: See, Servant, Swagger, Suspicion, Severance, Slow Horses, Shining Girls, Surface, Shrinking, Silo, Sugar, Sunny, Strange Planet...
Tim Cook must wish he'd been called Sim Cook.

Why do they keep trying these different formats... a reboot of the original format could be great, i.e. guest stars and performance sketches.

Apple really wants all of their show names to be confusing: Severance, Servant, The Savant. WHICH ONE ARE YOU WATCHING?

But I don’t know if it’s “bad” the whole way through. That’s why I’m asking.
Besides, I never said it was bad. I just found it surprisingly boring but I still managed to watch it.

It is really good for the genre it is. Bob Odenkirk said he wanted to get away from Saul Goodman and roles with guns and play a drama/comedy in the vein of Alexander Payne. So if you don't like it by now, you ain't going to like it.

I think the shows that maintain their quality with a satisfying ending remain talked about and rewatched while others don’t. Dexter started strong but the last half of the show wasn’t very good and neither was the ending (in my opinion)

I always viewed Dexter as 2 different shows. The first season which is dark and quirky. And all of the other seasons, which are very soap-opera like. I loved the first season. Was majorly disappointed by the 2nd season. Almost stopped watching the 3rd season. 4th season was better, but not even close to first. From there is just went farther and farther down in quality.
I think keeping Brian alive at the end of the first season, and saving the BHB manhunt storyline for a later season (like the last) would have solved a lot of problems. But they probably didn't expect the show to catch on like it did.

I think they seemed happy at the start because they were going in a different direction and building their own thing. Getting back to headbutting with Logan is just going to make them miserable again.

This sounds like a really interesting way to try doing a Muppet Show without it being either in the shadow of, or scrambling to be absolutely the opposite of, The Muppet Show.
The problem with trying to actually just do The Muppet Show in modern times is that it's a variety show, and variety shows are dead, and have been dead for decades now. Trying to modulate the atmosphere of the Muppet Show to be about a late night talk show was an okay idea, but trying to make it The Office (or Larry Sanders, even) just didn't work.
Picking characters people like, but don't know a lot about, and making it about a side of the entertainment industry that isn't just "Let's put on a show, gang!" is a really smart way to sidestep a lot of what tripped up everything post "The Muppets" movie with Segel/Adams.
