They needed to channel 30 Rock to make that show work, and it feels like they didn't even try.

It’s mostly because characters like Barney Stinson, Michael Scott, Ron Swanson can’t exist in the current day sociopolitical climate.

In the US, those shows are on Paramount+, not Showtime. Part of why these deals and mergers and such feel so complicated to me is that it can vary so greatly between countries where they put their media.

I thought everything Star Trek was paramount+

I don't know and I really don't care, go look it up if you do. Whoever is funding the expansion of the franchise sees it as good ROI.

Jerry Stiller in the Seinfeld episode when it flashes back to his time in the army. Not child exactly but 18-20ish character played by a 69 year old dude.

Dexter and his amazing wigs played by Michael C. Hall.

Caity Lotz played young Sarah in an episode of Legends of Tomorrow. All of the other characters with younger selves were played by different actors.

Paramount decided not to put Yellowstone up on their streaming service (Paramount+) so it went to Paramount Network. Then it got huge. Paramount wants to promote their streaming network but their biggest show can't be on it now. So instead they made spinoffs to air on Paramount+ to ride its coattails

Is there really a plot in sitcoms? Was there a plot in TBBT outside Leonard trying to seduce Penny? or in HIMYM outside of how Ted met the mother (forget 90% of the episodes)

And I don't think the problem of HIMYF is the plot or lack of filler, first problem IMO is the characters and their respective actors. Like someone said in another thread, you can easily complete season 1 without knowing the names of the 6 main characs.

Funny how Disney will do every type of Muppet show other than the one people want to see.

It’s a show that is as good as its characters. So far, so good.
