I would welcome a Richmond FC or a Roy Kent spinoff. If the show ends it clearly will be because Jason Sudekis wants to move on (and because shooting in London away from his family for so much of the year is hard on him), not because of any lack of story ideas or creative reasons. I think the world of Ted Lasso has a lot of stories to be mined and told and I'd welcome if they do it in a spinoff if Jason doesn't wanna do more seasons.

First episode reeled me in. Strong beginning, first episode suspenseful. But my interest waned as I continued to watch. It seemed almost comic book-ish to me. One annoying thing is that Ellen acts like Alexis Rose on Schitt’s Creek. This annoyed me because it seems like she ripped off that character’s mannerisms and it seemed very forced at that. Anyone else see that? The strongest acting came from Gabriel Basso. The characters lacked depth.

I honestly think people are misconstruing the song to be about suicide when it's really about realizing you've found your place all along and learnt to live and enjoy it.

  • Get me some rope

  • Tie me to dream

  • Give me the hope

  • to run out of steam

This is paralleling Jeff's life. He's basically saying he misses his former "dream" life (or that his dream life may be dying) and longs for it to return (and would do anything to hold on to it) and hopes that this longing will "run out of steam" so he can move past it.

  • Somebody said

  • it could be here

  • We could be roped up, tied up, dead in a year

This speaks to the community college itself - that in Jeff's mind it is a depressing end and that he is resigning himself to mediocrity where he feels ultimately trapped and held hostage (because he is obligated to attend to re-assume his former life)

  • I can't count the reasons I should stay

  • One by one they all just fade away

This is where it gets interesting because I feel it's more playing fast and loose with double negatives than anything else. Jeff has "so many reasons" why (enough that he can't count them) he should hold on to his old life and expectations that he couldn't possibly consider (or enjoy) an alternative. However, the last line shows that the charm of the school, of making real friends/family and finding actual purpose is slowly eating away at those expectations he set for himself and winning him over.

Jeff's arc in the actual show largely mirrors this inner turmoil and eventual acceptance and so I always assumed the song was designed deliberately to tell Jeff's story via a bit of foreshadowing.

It absolutely is.

When it comes to pure technical quality - acting and writing is the best I've ever witnessed, including movies. Directing is unconventional but great. I think its only downside is the plot which can feel a little repetitive. But it's still peak television.

I highly recommend browsing the “New” section often.

They have 3 rows for “Coming Soon” “Coming This Week” “Coming Next Week”

The Netflix algorithm forces you down a path instead of providing you with new / different content. Once you’re on that path your profile is ruined and there’s no way to clean up your profile.

I watch Korean and Japanese content. My profile is literally ALL Korean and Japanese content now. I had to make a new profile so I could browse English-Language titles again.
