I love that Bill Hader finds a way to obscure Barry's face in most of the action so he doesn't have to do it.

Genuine question, why is that stupid to say?

My personal opinion: The first show was legendary, the new one is good but plays in a different league. Maybe I'm just being nostalgic, I grew up watching the first show and there was a lot (good plots, singing, humanitarian values, stories I could relate to) to love. The new show is a great show but it feels less personal, I don't identify with the characters or their stories. It's also a bit too American for my taste (but considering it's an American show it makes sense). Positive things: The acting is good. Each episode has an interesting plot (especially the creepy episode where Ben is a priest), I like all the references to the original show. As you mentioned, it's interesting to see what happens in the lab. I'll definitely watch the second season

As someone turning 40 in a few weeks, this show hits home.

Hardly one of the 4 best shows ever on TV...

It's fine. Good, not great. Focusing so much on the crew takes away from actually getting engaged with the storyline of the episode.

Bodyguard showed you can have high quality political intrigue and drama without sacrificing intense action scenes. I think it benefited a lot from it's short 6 episode run, because everything felt tightly paced and the tension in several scenes was excellent.
It's a great middle ground between being being too dense and boring vs being too shallow, action-filed with no stakes or tension.

That's a shame. He was one of the last few good TV personalities left.

Yeah, the Simon Mayo tactic. They do that when they wanted to get rid of you but don't have a reason to fire you.

Exactly. I quit the show once Mike left, but even then it was getting miserable to watch. Louis went from being a decent foil to Mike to being an eye-roll-enducing supporting character who made the worst possible decision every time just for more drama.

The pilot was great but then they moved away from Mike using his photographic memory to solve cases to a soap opera. My wife and I gave up with two episodes in season 2. I've seen it included as one of USA Network's blue sky shows, but it had a lot sniping and backstabbing type of drama. It also lost a bit of its humor as the show progressed.

Way too early to tell. I think you need a good 8-10 for a series to settle before it can find its place in the medium's history.
But also none of this matters and it's entirely up to you, so you do you.

Is it even on the Mount Rushmore of HBO shows? The Sopranos, The Wire and Game of Thrones are no-brainers then there is a lot of great shows that you could consider for the 4th spot.

If you are looking for something entertaining and easy to watch, it's a very good option. Overall, a charismatic legal show.
It eventually leads nowhere and becomes very formulaic, but there's plenty of good TV to enjoy before then.

That's truly terrible. Was a great, underwatched show when it originally aired, and now the reunion suffers the same fate. Guess I should probably let go of any hope for a S4. Oh well. I feel blessed we got six more episodes of this show at all.
