I know tastes vary but I wish they would put more effort into it. Id love a Mission Impossible film spinoff(...yea I know it was originally a tv franchise).
The Citadel stuff seems interesting but The Gray man was lame. good for a single watch sure but nothing memorable.

I seem to remember the characters in-universe being fairly cool with it, the only gripe being that Ross was dating someone not named Rachel

I do love the 80's Superman logo on that.

"You have to be very careful with comedy because 20 years after it makes you wildly successful some people might find it problematic."
I don't get what the issue is. This has always been the case with cultural change. There was comedy from the 70s that wouldn't fly in the 90s.

His recent Chapelle impression may be even better.
For context. A producer at FOX was speaking to a comedian, and asked them for 'Dave's' number to get in contact. The comedian in questions thinks she was talking about his friend/co-host Dave Smith. It becomes clear over text that she was wanting Dave Chappelle's number, and thought she had it. To make the most of this blunder they had Dan Soder take the phone and do a Chapelle impression, convincing the producer she was talking to the real one.

It’s because the general public loves action thrillers and is always crying out for more of them.

IIRC they did the same thing to Beware the Batman after airing the first batch of episodes when that wasn’t renewed.
Wondering if this move has anything to do with the viewer demographics for the newer Young Justice seasons on HBOMax? I haven’t watched those, but it seems like those seasons are skewing to an older audience, and marketing this show as Adult Swim might draw in that crowd.

both Netflix and amazon seem to do great with these kinds of shows. I assume the Arnold show done by (I think the Reacher showrunner) will do well likewise.

It’s pretty unreasonable to expect comedy from 20 years ago to still keep up with the social mores of today. Comedy isn’t really made to last, the shows that gen z’ers love today are going to age poorly in 20 years as well, and that’s okay.

14 Seasons is still kinda young in terms of current, 'long-running series.'
Law and Order: SVU is on Season 24, and according to Deadline the other day, is looking at a 3-season renewal from NBC.
NCIS is on Season 20, and was recently renewed for Season 21.
And Grey's Anatomy just got renewed fro Season 20 the other day.

You think that's something? I didn't always wash behind my ears as thoroughly as I was told to.
*edit* Seriously though, the comment about me watching it anyway was more to show that the controversy actual fed it's popularity, not stifled it.

His wife passed away, and he needed some time. I'm surprised he came back for A Spy Among Friends, let alone Billions.

I think most people understand that older shows are going to have some morally disagreeable content without throwing away the baby with the bathwater. That someone can hear a homophobic or racist joke without instantly turning homophobic or racist. But that's not inflammatory and argument inducing so "I'm so moral because I decry Friends is problematic" is what we mostly end up seeing online
