My landlord at the place I lived before this one, honestly he left the stove on at least a couple of times ooh AND one of my flatmate (aka roomies) did this a LOT he just forgot he’d left the gas on. I just got into the habit of for eg before work checking the stove every day and turning it off if it had been left on. With both people I don’t think they’d left it on very long maybe an hour or two - made breakfast using it, I think. Sometimes I’d think OMG what if they leave it on when I’m NOT there 😱 then I’d be like well if they do they do 🤷🏻‍♀️

Don't be too hard on yourself, OP, so many people have at least one terrible, unequal, traumatizing relationship in their lives. I'm just about to get out of my own, and have already done a lot of the legwork. Learn from your mistakes, and watch out for red flags in the future. You know more now than you did before you met him, so use it to protect yourself.

You did nothing wrong, OP. Abusive people know how to manipulate, or they wouldn't be nearly so good at what they do. If you haven't read Lundy Bancroft's "Why Does He Do That" I would highly suggest it. If you want a copy, DM and I'll get you a link to a free download.

When I was 15, I woke up on a Saturday and assumed my parents went on their daily early-morning bike ride. I turned on my computer and jerked the gerkin, as you do. I didnt mute it or wear headphones because of the assumption I was alone. I finish and go downstairs and my mom is cleaning the kitchen. We have never, ever spoken about it.

Leaving natural gas open doesn't make Carbon Monoxide.

Carbon Monoxide is created by incomplete combustion, usually because of a defective device burning gas. This is absolutely not the case here.

It's useless to share random links if you don't read them nor understand them.

There was a 0% chance of a carbon monoxide intoxication by leaving the stove open (and no flame). As I said there are explosion dangers but it's not that straightforward and depends on the gas type and its concentration. So it depends on the volume of the house, the ventilation, etc

Now badly maintained devices can leak gas while working, and some of this gas can be CO, result of an incomplete combustion and a device malfunction. Once again that's not at all what happened there

lmfao you think their insurance covers a stolen liquor bottle? It does not. More likely, it will come up as a shortage at physical inventory time and depending on the business, a portion of it may indirectly come out of the managers pay.

Insurance for loss due to theft isn't going to kick in until several hundred dollars minimum, likely several thousand.

It’s sad that most men claim to be “men” simply because they have a job and a house, but if you don’t have that mental side of stuff figured out, including a giant ego check, you’re a fucking child. Sorry you had to go through this, just know that there’s probably millions of others out there who were sold the same lies by a man who can’t control his own thoughts or desires.
