I had the exact same side effect for very very very different reasons lol.

In my case, I was 30 (by 2 days). Surgery was Wednesday. I had undergone emergency surgery on my knee on the Monday in another city and province. As well as the tonsillectomy, they were cutting out some scar tissue in my throat. Afterwards it felt like a chunk was stuck in my throat. After about 3 days, I tried to clear my throat. And it worked! Spit out the chunk. But in getting that chunk out I ripped everything open. I just stood over the sink with my mouth open and it was like a faucet. I just attod there and screamed for my deaf sleeping father lol

I did this after an eye surgery once and lost use of the eye. Would not recommend.
