It's safe to assume the parents room is on the ground floor along with their living room and kitchen...upstairs on the second floor would have more bedrooms ..hence the family being in the living room the father had to investigate the sound coming from upstairs

Was just gonna come say this.

Sure, it doesn't really make sense, but for all we know it was still a fairly fresh wound. And even if it wasn't - There's no timer on how long it takes to heal. Had a coworker who went through something similar, it has been something like 10 years and he still has trouble thinking about dating again. He returns to the thought about him "betraying" his spouse - Even though he knows with absolute certainty (and his spouse told him beforehand that it would be ok) that they would never be angry about them dating again after they passed.

It's just how our brains are wired.

Ohhh the L is taken …friends and fam that I’ve told have cried laughing, made me act it out etc 🤣🤣my sister said funniest shit she’s heard in years & she’s in a rough spot so there’s that. I wish I could hear exactly how he first said it and try to think like a different person to train myself to avoid future TIFUs!

I am deceased. This is the best story ever (and I am so glad it happened to YOU... and not me, lol)

edit: and so you can have a good laugh at my own misfortune, here's a story for you:

My husband and I used to keep our toys in one of the drawers of the headboard. Perfect place, nice and convenient, right? Lube too. Until it wasn't the perfect place.

My oldest, when he was about 2, went down for a nap on my bed. He was out pretty hard so I left the monitor on and closed the door, and went about my day. A few hours later, I heard him awake and went to go get him. Unfortunately for me... he woke up and QUIETLY started to poke around. The monitor didn't pick it up because it was across the room. He was covered head to toe in lube, and had managed to turn on one of the toys.... and was chewing on it. Because one of his teething toys vibrated a bit when you bit it. Thank fuck we clean VERY well after every use, but I binned that toy, and the other one he had in his hand.

He got a bath, and the rest of the toys got a new home.

Similar-ish thing happened to me, stepped outside for a bit. Came back and the owner/manager had taken my clothes out of the washer, mixed it in with other people’s clothes he had also taken out of washers, and it was drying in several machines all over the Laundromat. I asked other customers what happened, started having to stop and pick through several dryers to recover maybe half of my clothes as the rest had virtually disappeared.

Yelled at the owner manager as my clothes had maybe been sitting finished in a washing machine for an additional five minutes at most. He blamed me as if it was my fault for not immediately removing my laundry when they were done.
