Besides that, I have a theory that girls are often attracted to elements of character and personality to a slightly stronger degree than boys are. I do notice male characters like Sans (Undertale) and Kovu drawing that kind of attention despite their appearance, when popular female characters usually have a more logically attractive physicality.
