I donate blood every 8 weeks. On a solid streak right now, I donate today actually! Typically I have a ritual where I buy a special 4 pack of beer to drink at home that night (only one though that night). It’s my own little happy hour.

yeah, it's not the first time i've passed out around them before, though. as soon as i was leaving the bathroom our bartender friend was standing right outside and they were like "lol if u didnt come out in the next 2 minutes i was gonna unlock the door w the keys"

omg literally me. this wasn't my first rodeo passing out, so i mostly just wanted to do it in privacy instead of panicking a bunch of diners and making a scene lol. ill make sure to keep the advice given to not lock the door in mind for future medical issues

In the Uk we recommend to our blood donors not to drink alcohol for 24 hours post donation, probably for that exact reason.

Also don't eat rum cake or eat wine jelly after donating blood.

It's surprising how fast you go from sober to annihilated after giving blood. Did it once, it was awful.

That’s bad! When I donated at college and joked with them as I left “Okay I’m gonna chug a beer now!” And they’re all like “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” And all proceeded to yell at me. It was funny to me because I was kidding. They didn’t get the joke.
