And pretending he can't cancel the order he made. Lowkey putting the onus onto L when it's not her order to cancel to avoid being responsible for the order going through. Telling her to keep them before even speaking to wife. Cares more about L inconveniencing herself than how this might appear to his wife.

All super wrong moves.

Agree with you about the BBB. If anybody decides they want to try to take a chance with an organization WITH teeth, your state Attorney General's office may be able to help out. Rember, every business must be licensed before they operate and maintain the "permission" of the government to keep their doors open. It looks like he might have jumped the gun and finally found that he fooled himself. Ny message to him, Have you learned anything about your trust issue? All's well that ends well, yes?

This. All of this. It's an honest mistake. Anyone else would've just said "ah shit", had it canceled, laughed with the wife about it, and bought her some things from her list.

Or, alternatively, you could get her things for her birthday without her having to provide a list. There's nothing you know she likes that you could get for her without her asking for it?

It's Amazon. You can 100% cancel it if it has not been delivered. You can chat to customer services if not. L can refuse the delivery. There's lots of options here.

The only odd thing here is telling L she can keep them instead of any inconvenience. Or that you'd keep it a secret. Both them things sound 100% dodgy and if your wife found out she'd surely assume the worst.
