TIL that a non-custodial parent kidnapped his two sons from Italy and choose to escape Europe on the Titanic. When the ship sank, the young boys were saved but the father drowned. The now famous boys appeared in Newspapers in Italy and their mothers saw them and reunited.

TIL In 1965, an excavation team discovered the Sword of Goujian in a tomb in Hubei, China. Encased in a nearly air-tight wooden box next to a skeleton. The sword is over 2500 years old but was in perfect condition, test affirmed that the blade could easily cut a stack of twenty pieces of paper.

TIL actor Joe Pesci hated the early unit call times in “Home Alone” since they prevented him from starting his day with nine holes of golf as he liked to do. After Pesci took the Assistant Dir. by the collar one day to complain about it, the call times were moved back from 7 to 9 A.M. just for him.

TIL about Deaf lifeguard Leroy Colombo, who overcame childhood paralysis through swimming and saved a record-breaking 900+ lives during his career. His swimming talent and use of sight rather than sound to identify drowning swimmers allowed him to save people other lifeguards would have missed.
